Gangabawie is a fictional town I made up as a setting to the first Dark Claws game, as well as one set in the Canadian province of Ontario in a similar vein to how Rockstar Games' Bully set Bullworth in the US state of New England. This town is intended to have fusions of Hong Kong, Chicago, Sapporo and Rio de Janeiro.

History

Construction for Gangabawie had been long forgotten since 1680 until 1800. By 1810, Gangabawie has finally been built on the coast of Ontario and has been a bustling Canadian metropolis for the riches and a paradise for all young hedonists. Even though it has been an incredibly entertaining and gorgeous town, this started to degrade after the British Raj, World War II, the Korean War, the War on Terror, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the right-wing American and Brazilian presidential elections between 2016 and 2019, mass immigration in Canada has gradually worsened along with the shocking rise of terrorism from both religious fundamentalists and therianthropes, with Gangabawie having 80% migrants having already flooded into the city since 2016, 60% of terrorism, 70% of therian-related crimes which have been totally overlooked by the now liberal-run government who have not even funded the Gangabawie Police Service nor even surveillance across the entire city and seen as "superstitious rumours", leaving existing non-therian gangs and tourists to keep out of their sights or die trying, only 68.3% of the human population exist in Gangabawie in contrast to 31.7% of therianthropes becoming a 2nd major populace, even though the local liberal community classed them as a new minority applicable enough to fit the new diversity quota. Since gang activity, terrorism, political corruption, public disorder, and classism has skyrocketed, a national vigilante group named Medjift went deep into the underbelly of Gangabawie to deal with the immense threat of therianthropes.

Gangabawie, formerly mayored by Conservative MP Charles Steadman, is also home to the greatest systems of education, healthcare, transits, trade unions, real estate management, entertainment and human rights. As well as being a very prosperous town, it has the best record of cleanliness and it used to have an outstanding safety record since 1850. But as of 2017, Gangabawie had been widely considered in Canada as the "most multiculturally successful town in all of North America" despite all of the vices that are currently happening. Many critics globally who criticised it have even compared it to many cities in Thailand, Venezuela, Belarus, Hong Kong and even Japan. There are over 800 job opportunities, yet 70% of therianthropes have already taken them. The city council went so far to promote safe spaces, extra bonuses, free connections to police across the country and even allowing student unions to include them as part of the B.L.A.M.E (Black, Latinoa, Asian and Minority Ethnic) demographic. For over 140 years, Gangabawie had remained fully conservative. This city now has a new mayor, Liberal MP Randall Corwin, who took the seat in 6th May 2014.

Demographics

Since 2016, Gangabawie's population soared to a total of 583, 670 denizens. After the mayoral election of Randall Corwin, diversity has been strongly suggested by officials from Prime Minister Timothy Bonhomme rather than further funding on transport, construction firms, law enforcement and healthcare minus clinics. Before this, Gangabawie's population was 82% Canadian, 8% British (6% English, 1.7% Scottish, 0.3% Irish), 2% Indian, 1% First Nations, 5% Japanese and 2% Korean. Ever since it was booming, the population was merely 218, 090 with them being 77% Christian, 8% Hindu, 2% Sikh, 1.8% Spiritual, 0.4% Shinto and 10.8% Buddhist. 9 months after the Therian Mutation Incidents in Fairbanks, Detroit and Vancouver, national surveys have shown that therianthropy has quickly affected 48.1% of Canadians and 60% of northern Americans that live almost close to the borders. As of 2018, the current demographics of Gangabawie by origin and ethnicity are 50.3% Canadian, 10.1% Middle Eastern, 8.8% South Asian (4.5% Pakistani, 3.1% Indian, 0.4% Sri Lankan, 0.3% Bangladeshi, 0.7% Bengali), 0.2% First Nations, 6% English, 9% Eastern European (7% Polish, 1% Albanian, 0.8% Bulgarian, 0.6% Hungarian, 0.6% Russian), 6.2% Japanese, 5% Korean and 4.4% Chinese. By religion, they are 15.6% Atheist / Agnostic, 37.8% Christian, 18.9% Muslim, 11% Hindu, 0.9% Sikh, 3.7% Spiritual, 6% Hare Krishna and 8.1% Buddhist. Since therianthropes are now classed as a minority by Bonhomme, there are officially 33.7% of them in Gangabawie, leaving out the rest of others as 66.3% but this is even increasingly debatable with many citizens, especially some far right groups, gangs and even police detectives despite the Gangabawie Police Service being set on defending them from discriminatory actions which are often viewed as "hate crimes" by the mayor.

Crime

Despite no research statistics on wherever there were criminal activities present in Gangabawie in the 1800s, it had remained perfectly safe for many centuries as well as being free from corruption, yet some left-wing journalists accused law systems of being "too extreme" with their serious laws and penal system which even allowed capital punishment for high-tier criminals who intend to terrorise civilians. Even if that is still debatable to this day, many civilians found it necessary in order to keep their neighbourhoods safer and more peaceful. Since the introduction of therianthropes becoming a "majority ethnic" in Canada and the new government of Gangabawie has overlooked the funding plans of law enforcement in favour of giving therianthropes their own rights via providing "safe zones" in many districts and support from the police and many political groups of both sides - with many leftists wanting therianthropes to have more opportunities than non-therians and some rightists using therianthropes as a way of research to invert their migration just to bring society back to how it used to be and then use their dependable techniques to improve their country. On the other hand, there are now 6 extremist groups -- most of them being considered far-right by the mainstream media even if they are well-intentioned, most notorious examples being the Kingdom of Swords, Paxton Presbyterian High Society, Castle of the Red Sun and Cool Lads (even though their founder Douglas Kenney never intended to encourage his members to commit "hate crimes", as MSM often suspected him of) -- spreading bad influences over many communities. Along with that, street gang activities have been introduced since Gangabawie's economy started to decline as police struggle to deal with them. To make matters worse, only a few gangs are therianthropes and are more dangerous than non-therian gangs, leading to the fact that the majority of mass murderers, rapists and kidnappers are also therianthropes, making Gangabawie's crime rates go up to 60%, but they can be more dangerous during the nights.
