GTA '67 Map 2 - London

Share

This map took 10 days to complete and I intended to outdo myself with this one, but I'm relieved to have done it now. So, here is the map of London and how it is layered for the player to roam in. Besides, some parts of Hertfordshire, Essex and -- to a lesser extent -- Kent are included as part of the map, which makes immersive gameplay sound more fun. Like the map of the same city for Grand Theft Auto: London 1969, this map does not have a perfect accuracy on the geography, but this is perhaps even 70% better than that and it is justified by the fact that this is just for my own GTA fan project that would likely be an indie game that pays tribute to the classic GTA trilogy, given the mechanics of the driving around the cities really is, as supported by the logic of several other PS1 games such as Driver. There is only the tiniest amount of neighbourhoods that have been given replicated names; one of them is New Orleans Walk, which has been renamed to "St. Denis Walk". This is a direct reference to Red Dead Redemption 2's New Orleans replica, as it helps keep up with the Rockstar Games universe's lore.

The font used for the neighbourhood names is "George Harrison & Friends", which can be downloaded from dafont.

Welcome to London, the bustling British megapolis with connections from many countries in terms of trades, entertainment and of course organised crime. Since it is the '60s, the Swinging London movement has come around, the working classes are fighting for their own rights and corporate scandals are tainting the reputation of the UK. London is also surrounded by multiple English regions Hertfordshire, Essex and Kent where even thousands of their residents have personal attachments to the capital since some of their family members also live there.

Whilst London is certainly a majestic city full of rich cultural ingenuity and prolific history, it is also home to the four most intimidating mobs who always make a name for themselves, but only one of them wants to completely eviscerate the other three and that mob would be the Steelfists, a gang consisting of street fighters of all societal ranks. The other three are The Parkinson Gang, West End Mob and the Solomon Crew. The frightening influence of these gangs and the Swinging London scene even caused a great chunk of Mods and rockers to form another two powerful gangs who want to go at each other's throats like it is going to be another Battle of Brighton Beach. Speaking of different cultures, the Yardies who call themselves the Lions of Hackney are recently in rough competition with a Hong Kong Triad known as the Silver Cloud Warriors. Along Hertfordshire and the northernmost areas of Greater London, Russian and Italian organisations the Ignatov Bratva and the Zoncada Family have now joined in the monopoly of Britain's southern criminal underworld.
