This is a pic I've been working on for a few days now, of a character that comes from a project I've been working on: Pokemon Neoverse. It's a reboot project I started back in 2020 after a revelation a close friend on Discord gave me, which has undergone many changes, both small and drastic, since then. I had originally centered the project on DA, but I was thinking of moving it here on account of DA's...questionable status. Also because the original pics I posted on there didn't get much attention, so I hope that'll change on here.
Below is a summary of this character, explaining their backstory and abilities.
--------------------
Planet Aterr (the setting of Pokemon Neoverse) is home to many powerful beings, humans and Pokemon alike, but none are said to be stronger than the Monarchs. The Monarchs are the leaders of CAP (Conglomerate of Aterr's People), which are a combination of the world's continental governments and the Aterr Leagues, trainers and overseers of Alliances (teams formed of humans and Pokemon). There can be only one Monarch at a time, who are only chosen through a selection of especially-talented humans that make it through the roughest challenges. Craltis's story is no different.
He originates from the continent of Cifara, one of the largest continents in the world, and also one of the most historic. It was here that most of Aterr's modern history was born and where the most crucial is kept. Craltis in-particular hails from a massive tribe that lives in seclusion, responsible for holding some of this crucial history. He was one of the tribe's warriors, a Fluxed human, one who has awakened and linked to their Cruia, which is the world's life and elemental energy. His power was average for his tribe, but to a commoner, it would be enough to match one of the world's Gym Leaders. The Cifarian government, who were somehow aware of Craltis's tribe, sent an envoy there to scout them out and see if there was someone of "great potential" there. They found that someone in Craltis, and the envoy pit themselves against him to check his abilities. The battle ended with the envoy's defeat, a defeat that impressed them. They offered to bring Craltis to the Aterr League for training, but what this training was for was never told. Regardless, he accepted. Ordinarily he wouldn't accept anything from an outsider, but there were two factors influencing his decision:
1: The government had been rough around the edges, but they weren't known as evil by the tribe...supposedly.
2: There was a piece of history he read that foretold an old threat that would eventually resurface, which drove him to do something about it.
The villagers gave him a reluctant farewell as Craltis left the tribe's hideaway. Soon after he was brought to the continent's Peak, the name of the home bases of Aterr's Champions, where he was introduced to the Cifarian Aterr League. It was an impressive line-up to say the least, but because of his ability, Craltis was allowed to train with the High Five themselves, people second only to Champions, right from the get-go. Usually he'd have to train with the Gym Leaders, but his power was enough to rival one so it qualified him for early training with the High Five. During his time among them, Craltis was brought around Cifara by the Aterr League, a journey which showed just how little of the world he knew due to his tribe's seclusion. This intensified his worries for the "old threat" resurfacing, and so he put more and more effort into his training with the Aterr League, eventually training with the Champion. He was successful in said training, and the government offered to bring him around the world to train with other Aterr Leagues to increase his capabilities even more. Knowing this would possibly give him what he needed to combat the "old threat", Craltis accepted and went on a worldwide trip to train and see what Aterr had to offer. The more he saw, the more he wished to defend the world. His worries sadly made him distant to whatever friends he made during his journeys; if not for the intense focus he had on his training, then out of the belief that they were holding him back with their "common pleasantries". See, while he understood the greatness the world had, he didn't understand modern people and how they lived, outside of what he knew. Battling and lorekeeping. Some tried to offer him to hang out with them at some place, others tried bringing him to shows or movies, common stuff like that. It didn't interest Craltis in the slightest, though this was partly due to the belief he HAD to keep training and never stop, otherwise he'd grow lax towards the returning threat.
Craltis's journey was soon nearing its end. His successful training and even victories amongst the Champions had earned him the right to join the Monarch Sessions, which were a special training program designed to choose the next Monarch. This was why the Cifarian government sent an envoy to scout out his tribe; there was currently no Monarch leading CAP, and after surveying the tribe the government believed they would find a candidate for the Monarch role amongst the tribe. Craltis was brought to the home of the Monarchs, a gigantic space elevator named the Subalxeceli, which also had seven giant segments which housed records of each Champion that existed, also doubling as a relaxation and meeting place for them and the Monarch. There, Craltis was put through the most rigorous training he had ever been through at that point. Besides increasingly difficult battles against his fellow trainees and other opponents, he also had to undergo intense Cruia absorption. Absorbing numerous types of Cruia to become an Omni-Elemental, one of, if not THE mightiest beings on Aterr. Out of all the trainees, only three succeeded: Craltis and two others. The rest had either lost the previous matches or were unable to handle absorbing so many kinds of Cruia. In the worst cases, they had perished. As there could only be one Monarch, one final test was put before the three survivors, which involved them fighting each other for the spot. Craltis proved to be the greater of the trio, and he was thus pronounced the new Monarch to the whole world. Some people recognised his appearance as a Cifarian, and were not too keen on him being the new Monarch for reasons relating to that. Let's just say some thought little of or were hateful of Cifarians for...well, that'll be spoken of at another time.
Since his inauguration as a Monarch, Craltis has been training himself inside the eighth segment of the Subalxeceli, the Seltevco, to get even stronger, and has been formulated different training regiments for the Aterr Leagues and continents, in the hopes of creating stronger people and Pokemon from them. But these regiments were a bit harsh, sometimes too harsh, and had just as many negative results as they did positive. Members of the Leagues and even the governments have made complaints to Craltis to rescind his regiments and put new, kinder ones in their place, but he refuses to listen. Instead, he created his own circle of followers within the Subalxeceli called the Lorefighters, who acted as his personal army. In exchange for "forgiving" the CAP for sending him those arguments and not interfering with their work, he demanded that they don't interfere with his own, which included keeping the regiments going and allowing any changes he deigns for them to happen. The CAP had little choice in the matter but to accept Craltis's deal. At that point, they knew that the Monarch they had chosen to lead them...was a tyrant.
A tyrant who readied himself and the world for what was to come, no matter what.

Fun Facts:
--------------------
And that's it. I know, Craltis seems pretty overpowered for a Pokemon character, and you'd be right. If he were in the normal series there's NO way he'd stay there. However, things are vastly different in the Neoverse. Every being is stronger than they were in the original series, and the workings of the world and the beings themselves are vastly different. Plus, if you're gonna run a world full of intricate yet powerful beings that align themselves with one another, AND lead multiple governments and leagues, you'll need the kind of power Craltis does. XD Also in case you couldn't tell, yes, the Aterr Leagues are the Pokemon Leagues of the Neoverse, and there are proper governments on the regions...or should I say continents. All that stuff will be explained in a future post, but for now, I hope you like this one.
