This is pretty neat.
Some older work, but this is an idea for a fishing minigame for a project that i've unfortunately abandoned.
The basic idea was that your character (pictured here, named "The Postman") would go down to the docks and cast/launch an oversized hook out into the water and would pull out fishmen of varying difficulty to fight (depending on the quality of the rod,)
You would then engage in a Rock Paper Scissors version of Quick Draw where the fishman would flash a certain color and you would have to hit the opposing button to deal damage. (if the fishman flashes red, indicating "scissors", you would press blue, for "rock", and so on and so forth)
The fishman wouldnt cycle through flashes like this in combat, but it would flash a color for a certain length of time which would get shorter depending on the difficulty of the enemy, with some more advanced ones adding fakeouts to bait out the wrong responses from you and striking.
this would continue for a number of rounds until one party runs out of health. Upon defeat the fishman would transform into a normal fish that you would collect.
Still love this idea and I totally want to include it in a project someday. Just gotta get off my lazy ass and do something.
This is pretty neat.
