It's that time of year again where I review my work:
January - Animals, not something I do much but when it comes to the Chinese New Year I like to give it ago. Definitely need to learn how to draw rabbits, not my strongest suit.
Feb - Last year I drew a lot of fanart, so this year I spent some time in NG's very own OC Plaza, drew some illustrations for warm ups while practicing some characters I usually wouldn't have drawn. Will try and continue this in 2024!
March - Some fanart work here and playing around with character composition, don't usually draw a character upside down but I've been experimenting with more dynamic poses to bring out character personalities.
April - An OC I drew from a follower art giveaway raffle, like the rabbit from January, a bird/humanoid creature animal was out of my usual comfort zone but I do like how it came out.
May - My Pico Day 2023 submission which was made for a tile square in https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/883300 like in March's I experimented with character composition, as four characters were rotating around the piece which I liked the outcome of.
June - Another NG piece, this one was to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Edd. Wanted to create a nostalgia, homely and cosy piece to evoke a feeling of a happy memory with the sunset hues of orange and yellows.
July - Didn't draw much for July, I made this for my 26th birthday on a whim, mostly playing with shape and silhouette here but wasn't my best piece of the year.
August - An art meme based on colour, I liked the challenge as it made me use colours that I often don't use like green, pinks and cyan.
September - October - Treasure Planet Zine, September's was my main piece and October's were splash art to accommodate a story. I really like the composition in these, both involved drawing a ship from different angles which was challenging but drawing characters (the first one had five character's interacting with the environment) was definitely testing my illustration skills.
November -This was also for Homestuck Panel Redraw Zine, like September, Octobers and June's it had a very dreamlike/nostalgia vibe to it, usually I tend to do blocky sharp and spiky lineart so to work with softer brushes was a new challenge.
Dec - I began this year with a drawing of an animal and ended this year with a drawing of an animal. I felt more confident drawing a reindeer than a rabbit. This was NG's secret santa 2023. It was fun being able to experiment with characters and scenario's I usually wouldn't have thought or considered to have drawn on my own accord.
My goal last year was to explore with different colour palettes and shapes, which I think I achieved even if I do still lean to the blue's and purples. Next year, I'm not sure what I will do, maybe work on some of my own OC's that I've been developing for a while.
I also plan to join in on more NG events if I have the time.
Thanks to everyone who followed and stuck around to see my work.
See you next year!
