36th illustration of the year.
First time trying flesh tones with acrylic paint. Turned out fairly well if I do say so myself. And the photo on my phone came through pretty easily too, which was nice.
This is the cover image for The Flesh of Monsters (2001), the fifth instalment in my interconnected Coldwater Tapes analog horror stories. This series takes place between 1990-2002 (so far). Sleepless Children (1993) is the one I'm currently on; it's the fourth one set to release next year.
This image features Donna Anderson, a recurring antagonist who first appeared in Bodycam (1997) and re-appeared in The Laughter in the Woods (2000). Part of her face is degloved, but she knows it'll heal soon enough.
After BRITTLE FIST and Death Under Candyland's Eye (both due out later this year), I'll be primarily focusing on Sleepless Children (1993) and Cobalt Rogue, Vol. 4: Cemetery Rumble, Part II over the course of 2024. No idea when I'll get to The Flesh of Monsters (2001), but yeah, it's number five.

BODYCAM (1997)
A husband struggles in the aftermath of an attack that left his wife in a catatonic state after he receives a videotape recording of the assault in his mailbox. Soon he begins to feel strange, like someone's watching him, invading his mind and his home. When he receives another mysterious tape in the mail, he knows the same assailant isn't finished with his family, or him. Fearing for his young daughter's safety, he prepares to kill the assailant, but the assailant's means of entering the house may be more complicated than anyone could imagine...
SHE WATCHES ME BURY HER (2000)
One fateful Friday in October of the year 2000, at 6:52 PM, Cameron Morgan will kill his wife and bury the remains in the backyard.
He's been doing it every night, for years. The problem isn't necessarily that Cameron keeps killing his wife.
The problem is that his wife keeps coming back.
Things are different this time. Over the course of a single weekend, Cameron and their three children are about to witness just how dangerous mommy dearest can be--and mommy will test the limits of how far a desperate father will go...
THE LAUGHTER IN THE WOODS (2000)
December of the year 2000. The Carmichael Family Reunion is something everyone looks forward to every year, hosted by Grandma at her wonderful house in the woody outskirts of Coldwater, Ontario.
But this time, no one will be going home, because something is out there, lurking in the shadows cast by the sunset... watching from the darkness of the night... and slowly, it approaches. The Carmichaels don't know what it is or where it came from. All they know is that it wants to get inside.
