I got a new scanner. No longer will I need to cram ill fitting paintings into a tiny epson flatbed. Instead, I had to cram the Plustek into my room.
This is Jolene, ain't she also cute? In the webcomic I'm procrastinating on, she lives in the great plains, which is going through another dustbowl at the time it takes place.
I think the hair and... *sighs* breasts could use use a little work and the shading on the clothing folds are less than ideal but I'd say this is much better than my last painting. I'm conflicted on weather or not I should keep using hatching for shading. Guess I should just hatch in simpler drawings.
Her outfit is supposed to have a yellow stripe on the front but it's not well seen in profile. Also, I completely destroyed the white paint in my watercolor set trying to mix colors, fuck me.
Oh, and the composition was inspired by the magazine ads for Half Life. Also, most of it's aesthetic was just me up at 2 AM messing around with the settings on Inkscape.
