Who would have thought that one of my characters that has been with me since the first seeds of Dark Children would go through such a huge character defining. I remember the time Ninkoul was just a side character, not much to him in terms of personality outside of him being a warrior (I mean, I was about 10 when I made him and was just a baby in storytelling skills...). Now? He's a fully fledged important cast member that has a huge role as one of the main characters and is defined to such insane levels (to me anyway) that knowing his story direction and how his growth will go makes me feel genuinely happy. It's like looking at your own kid growing up, if that analogy helps.

One of the major points of Dark Children project is that practically everybody has problems, traumas or just other kinds of internal conflicts, and the cast interacts with each other to not only succeed in the mission on their hands, but also figure out how to deal with issues they face on their own and heal. I would say more about it, but elaborating on how the story's message works will feel like me telling you how it is instead of showing it, so I'll be trying my best to convey it in my storytelling so people would understand the main story messages without words being said in the face. There is still a lot of work ahead of me for that to happen.

When it comes to this picture's theme, I worked with the idea of illustrating a feeling more than what character does, and I think the composition should be helpful in establishing Ninkoul's mindset.

As for why I picked out those lyrics at the beginning? Maybe it's not so surprising, but quite a few songs from the music bands I've listened since I was a kid resonated and perhaps had some influence on my writing. As a result, I can often find the songs that would match some of the story beats and scenarios. And "Castle of Glass" is a song that perfectly encapsulates Ninkoul.

Dark Children is a dark fantasy project in works that covers the story of misfits that try to overcome their own demons with the obscure past of a fallen civilization haunting them.

Currently in works is a comic set up in a world within Sonic Universe, known by the title "Prelude to Ascent".
