Almost every social media favors creators that have a regular output, so its no surprise that content that can be produced consistently and regularly does well on youtube. The animators who are successful in that platform know they just can´t put hundreds of hours into their animations ,even if they wanted to. That´s just how mainstream consuming habits are and I don´t really think you can put the blame on anyone for that. And its not like youtube vids is the only way you can get paid to do art, you can always do private comissions, set up a patreon, etc.
