I Heart Tuesdays Penny and Emmy

Share

I really like obscure stuff Cartoon Network has put out (FireBreather, Get'em Tommy, Monsters ate my birthday cake ECT) and the crowning achievement of Obscure CN goodies is I Heart Tuesdays, a show that was pitched and planned by a celebrity but never released. R&B singer Ne-Yo was to be the producer of this series as news of it first came out in 2011 and upon it's announcement all we really knew about it other than Ne-Yo and CN were involved was the premise as it goes " The first version would have been about a 16-year old girl that inherits the curse of her bloodline and she's forced to save the world from an unknown evil every Tuesday for the rest of her life."

About a year later the Synopsis was changed when Ne-Yo was asked about it in an interview "The second version would have been about twins who are direct descendants of two Greek gods that were cursed by Zeus for being really childish and irresponsible. They have to save the world from some unspoken evil every Tuesday for pretty much the rest of their lives. So, it's dealing with that on top of dealing with being high school students." As of 2013 no new information has been released by both CN & Ne-Yo and it has stayed that way since.

Other information about the series is scare, like Ne-Yo Mentions that the principle states over the intercom that prom has been moved to Tuesday which could have been a possible episode idea for the show. It's also said that Def Jam Recordings was to be involved and that Ne-Yo made the series with his sister in mind, though those tid bits aren't well sourced. The Last real concrete bit of Information we have on it is about it's animation and art style, in an interview from 2012 Ne-Yo mentions how he didn't want the art style to resemble something like the Boondocks because it was expensive, he even stated " I’m cool. We can get stick figures." He also said " I’m actually still in the process of doing some stuff with the Cartoon Network. I’m trying to put together a cartoon that I wrote and developed. It is just taking so damn long and people are dragging their feet" leaves me to believe that he was getting impatient with the animation process. Seeing has how Ne-Yo hasn't worked in animation before (even just voice work) I could see why.

While I find it an interesting piece of lost media this doesn't get as much coverage from lost media seekers heck I had to make one of the lost media pages for it lostmediaarchive.fandom.com/wi… and a reddit post for it. YouTubers in the lost media community barely even given it much attention either, likely the most well known one is in a top ten video by Rebel Taxi about cartoons based on Celebrities where he basically chopped it up to Ne-Yo's inexperience. I asked LSuperSonicQ about it in a live-stream & luck would have it he answered me, he did consider making a video on it at one point but he dropped it due to the lack of overall info about and a lack of interest

I remember two other videos since deleted, one basically went over what little that was detail given kind of like the only other thing I remember was he had a screen shot of Rebel Taxi's tweet wondering what happen to I Heart Tuesdays. The other was from a YouTuber who went by the name of choose goose whose since deleted their channel, they posted mostly promos from cartoon channels & I remember the around that specific time they uploaded promos from the Adventure Time Ep The tower & a trailer (or teaser) MLP Equestia girls movie Rainbow rocks (I remember their description said they were unsure about that movie). I commented on their channel comments tab asking if they found anything about I Heart Tuesdays and to my surprise they made a video about it. It was a text only video where that once again recited the only scraps of info we ever really got from a few interviews. I felt kinda special that day I watched that video a video existed solely because of me!

We are coming up on the 10 year anniversary of it's announcement and nothing outside of what was mentioned in the few interviews there was with Ne-Yo has surfaced about I heart Tuesdays no storyboards, scripts, list of writers, artist or voice actors not even so much as a character design or even a logo for it has surfaced for it. No one has ever come out stating that they were working on it, really makes me wonder if it ever even got close to the pilot phase. Few other notes I want to point out is that there was a interview recorded with Ne-Yo from Access Hollywood which has since been set too private, I remember the forum post user who linked the video mentioned that he only briefly mentioned it before going on about his experience as a father. On a few trademark searching sites searching in I heart Tuesdays shows no results However it does pop up as a predicted search, meaning CN must of have the trademark for it before letting go once it was canned. And interestingly On Ne-Yo's official Wikipedia I Heart Tuesdays is still mentioned under the Television category even though nothing has came of it.

Dear god I wanted to make some obscure fanart and ended up writing a lecture! Anyways since Ne-Yo is African American I thought it only be right to make the twins African American, I could have taken the easy route and only done 1 young lady like in the first plot summary but I went for the second Plot summary and made them twins! Not sure if I nailed the Greek fantasy look for them but I tried to replicate the look of Greek warrior armor for Penny on the right is the Muscle and gladiator of the duo while Emmy on the left is the book smarts and mage. Hope you enjoyed it!
