Check out these scrappy ol' storyboard panels for Graveyard Shift! I started drawing these in Photoshop, but moved to Harmony where I could transition it into an animatic much easier.

One of the biggest changes I made here was how the cowboy knocks on the door after he and his siblings get ejected from the ride. In the storyboard, you can see how he runs away and hides after Greg answers the door, but in the final animation he stands there with his hands on his hips.

At first, I figured it would make for a funny visual gag with him adamantly pounding on the door and then letting his siblings deal with whomever opens the door, but it didn't seem to fit his personality. Especially since he's the one who jumps off the ride and pulls open the Crypt of Candy. It is only fitting that he would "stand his ground" at the very end, as if he won't be satisfied until someone explains to him why they didn't get any candy.

Looking back at the ending, I think I'm mostly happy with how Kevin comes back to see the kids off, but I feel like I could have included some additional gag or scene involving the kids walking away. I remember having no idea how to end the whole animation, which ultimately led to just having Greg consoling a broken Kevin as they go back inside.

The Genghis Khan stinger was also another attempt to throw another band aid on the ending. More funny equals better ending, right?

All in all, I'm still fairly satisfied with how this thing came out. I really like these characters and want to develop them further. Halloween is my favorite holiday (if it wasn't obvious enough) and there's so much potential for strange new adventures on that dubious night.
