Rpg Design/Ideas

Share

So this year I attempted to work more on video games. Big emphasis on try.

The animations above was me making some small underwater creatures for a the idea for a small fetch quest rpg.(worked on during Nov.)

The premise was

There was a Young girl would, one day while out on water her deep water adventures, sees the princess of the island looking distantly out into the waters from her castle. Our main character is awe struck by the princess going head over heels for her and wants to ask her out on a date so she can get to know her more. So our MC decides that she will get a gift for her, she will catch a huge water creature for the princess as a pet and then ask her out on a date.

Nothing to crazy and possibly a little cheezy but I wanted a simple game with a simple path to a dungeon where she would fight the big boss creature to gift to the princess. The idea was to make something simple and fast so I could put something out for people to enjoy and demonstrate my talents and skills but I made some art for the enemies and main characters and then I opened RPG Maker and all the steam I had was shot. I had forgotten how to use RPG maker, might come back to the idea but for now here is the art and the main character art.

This is a small battle I had animated to try to simulate an RPG battle between a demon and exorcist. I wanted to draw combat that was simple but had the player attacks look somewhat fun.

I wanted to edit this animation and clean it up a bit more before putting it on NG but never got around to it and thought I should just publish it here to just show off things I worked on this year.

Lastly or what I believe to be lastly

Are these monsters below

I had talked to a friend about pokemon and thought hey it can't be that hard making monsters and creatures. Welp I put it in a more cocky way and so was humbled by the process of drawing, sketching and trying to figure out the environment/habitats for the monsters/creatures. Originally I had sketched like 50+ designs on paper some cool and some stinkers.

But this is the after product of that idea. I think I took the rat design of one of the sketches and worked on it digitally. And then I had the idea to figure who else would be in world with mice, well cats would be their predators and dogs would be theirs and so on. once I had those 3 I realized where do these creatures exist and where can I give them a sorta RPG class element.

Well the city. Where you could have bandits, thieves, stray cats/dogs and a rodent problem. From there I had birds and street performers, trashcan bugs and Then some restaurant worker enemies but that was for a later dungeon idea.

Now thinking about it I could have vehicle/transportation enemies, TV ads monsters, street sign hybrids, sentient buildings, construction workers, racoons, and so on to fill up and populate the world.

But the idea for this game would be a longer format fetch quest.

The story would be about retrieving and recovering a stolen magic book.

I would go into it more but I am getting a little tired of typing/rambling haha.

The main character with the pic above recoloring her to black and grey to stand out more from the colorful cast.

and some quick gameover screens

So yeah this is some of side/ personal things I had been trying to work this year aside from some music and maybe some other art for these ideas I forgot about.

If you read through and checked this out thanks for taking the time to!

These little guys are great! I’m loving the ones at the bottom of the post too; they look so pretty lineless like that.

CaldoChico responds:

they were super fun to make I wanted to animate them but then I just forgot to
