The Estate's Maid

Share

Very fun designing my own maid outfit. Typically, all you see are the French maid outfits, which admittedly are a superior design in all measures of beauty and class, but I wanted to design a bit more of my own.

Our maid here sports a pair of yellow gloves which are a direct nod to the classic yellow rubber gloves most are probably aware of. A nice blue dress was given to her to contrast with those articles and a yellow bandanna to compliment them. Her shoes are featureless leather slip-ons and her tights are an unassuming grey. The leather patches on her pants are meant to be pads for whenever she scrubs the floors or just has to reach some low lying area to clean. Her belt is something I just added because I have an obsession with thick, waist-high, leather belts with big buckles. Lastly, the cross around her neck is modeled after the Orthodox Christian design. Canonically, I imagined it to be casted from iron, giving the impression that the maid did not get this necklace from a jeweler but was rather, perhaps a favor she had asked of a local blacksmith, who preceded to crudely hammer it out for her.

And no, of course I didn't draw that gate by hand. Are you out of your mind?

You may not have drawn the gate by hand but damn it looks like you put the whole place through a timewarp. Like the character design is cool too but I'm primarily in awe of the scenery.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Crafting little scenes like this is becoming one of my biggest time sinks.
