"Today marks a momentous occasion, one that has been a long time coming. The Extraordinary Confinement Office, or ECO as it is now known, has finally been officially founded. It's a remarkable turn of events, considering that the groundwork for our organization was laid many decades ago.
I find myself reflecting on how the seeds of the ECO were sown as far back as 1891. That was when the then few members first encountered what would later become the Echo of the Eternal Forest (later confirmed to be the remains of the so-called world tree by Dr. Donald [classified]), although it was merely a sapling then. That's when their fascination with the inexplicable and ancient began. They soon dedicated their lives to uncovering, understanding, and containing anomalies beyond imagination.
Throughout the years, the ECO existed in a more informal and decentralized manner. A loosely connected network of individuals and enthusiasts who shared an insatiable curiosity for the unexplained. They were researchers, botanists, linguists, and more, each brought together by their common pursuit of the anomalous and extraterrestrial.
It was in the 1960s (about the time I joined), with the world rapidly changing and the mysteries of the universe growing more and more dangerous and unpredictable, that we decided it was time to formalize our efforts. The founding members, who had been diligently working in the shadows for years, recognized the need for a centralized hub where we could pool our knowledge, resources, and expertise. A place where all the discoveries could be catalogued and then confined accordingly. 
Our official founding was a moment of unity and clarity. We were no longer a disparate collection of curious minds; we became the ECO Institute, a dedicated organization committed to the study and containment of anomalies that had bewildered and captivated us for decades. And if need be, protect the rest of the world from them.
As we look forward to the ECO Institute's future, I am filled with hope and anticipation. The mysteries we have uncovered and the ones we have yet to discover hold the promise of reshaping our understanding of the world and the cosmos itself. In fact, a lot of my size changing technology has been based upon many of the anomalies stored at the site. Our journey is only just beginning, and with the proper organization and resources, we are poised to embark on an era of unprecedented exploration and revelation.
The ECO Institute, though born from a long and winding path, has finally come into its own. It is our duty to ensure that the echoes of the past and the enigmas of the present are explored and contained, for the betterment of humanity and the preservation of our collective knowledge."

Ah the optimism of the 60s. Little did the founding members and their newly acquired staff know just how merciless the world (and by extension the universe) truly is. A glorious new era of discovery it was not. Instead, the Institute became a glorified prison in most ways.
