Mae is a shifter vampire alchemist originally made for a campaign with a Dr. Stone-like premise. She views the world through a transactional lens. She is specifically an aswang, able to tolerate sun, alter her appearance to be more human, and suck up blood with a mosquito-like tongue. When she was young, she watched her human stepfather kill her aswang mother for admitting to being an aswang. After draining all the life from her stepfather, she fled to the woods and made her own home there.

Over the centuries, she started living among humans from town to town, taking on many men as husbands to feed on, secretly and slowly draining them to their deaths. One husband was an alchemist who left her a small collection of texts in his will, which she ended up reading out of boredom before moving to the next town. Marriage wasn't much more than a vehicle for corralling feeding tools. Every relationship she ever had was surface level until she met her final husband.

About a year into their marriage, he awoke one night while she was feeding on him. Before she could move to kill him, he placed a hand over her palm and then offered his blood willingly, saying she could have it for the rest of his life, even if it kills him. So long as he could die with the love of his life at his side, he would have no regrets. Moved by the loyalty of his love, she spared him and fled their home for his own good, fearing her nature would destroy the only human she’s ever genuinely cared for. She attempted to see him one last time, only to find herself trapped in a realm apart from him.

After, she returned to her home the woods, bitter and malnourished. For comfort, she alchemized potions to suppress her appetite, hoping to lead the rest of her existence in drunken solitude. But as she developed an annoying petrification disease, she assumed she could alchemize a potion to suppress her symptoms. Then, months later, a group of people with the same disease found her house, seeking help. Oh, and last fun fact is she likes mangoes and dinuguan broth, but both don't have much nutritional value for her.
