The Sky's Exploding With Thunder And Fireworks

Share

This is the cover art for my new album "The Sky's Exploding" available now on bandcamp https://nowitsart.bandcamp.com/album/the-skys-exploding

this took nearly 10 hours to make and it doesn't even look that great lol

though for me eyballing the perspective I think it turned out okay. definitely would've turned out better if I had taken the time to actually get the perspective right!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still not satisfied with how the fireworks turned out, still not really sure of what to do to fix them other than maybe blur them a little since they're in the distance, but they're also supposed to pop so it's kinda hard to get right, idk

So I probably could've got the idea in this piece across a lot easier with more simple art, but this is the image that came into my head when thinking about the album art, and that's what I ended up doing. Probably not the smartest decision considering how long it took for the outcome, but artistic integrity or something

Very nice

Funny thing about finding this piece is that its actually jul3rd here so it was a nice find I like the lumminating effect with the fireworks did think they could have even more of a glow though anyways nice art work.

Damn man the New Year's barely here and you have an album ready already! :O Cover doesn't look bad either, abstract dimensions are always a challenge but seems like you managed those pretty well, I just get a bit bugged by that blue swirly thing really not looking like a firework. ;) Maybe less linear shapes would work better? Dotted lines and debris more than solid forms? The others look cool but also more like explosions and lightning. I feel fireworks usually consist of a mass of particles. Smaller stuff. Lots of dots, short lines, stuff like that.

Overall though: pretty cool. Sitting alone on the roof though, with two burgers... seems like a sad premise. Break up? Is it supposed to mean more? He's easily overshadowed by that blazing sky...

Yeah man, it was supposed to be for the 4th of july so I had a lot of the songs done for the past several months, so it didn't take too long to finish up in time for New Years (eve)

the things that look like lightning ARE lightning, that's why it's exploding with THUNDER and fireworks :p

as for the shape of the fireworks, I used this image as reference https://ip.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/fireworks-1170x878.png (which now that I'm looking at it again I think it's a painting???) so that's why the one has solid straight lines lol, I was actually more satisfied with that one than the red one, so it's interesting that you point that one out specifically, though I guess thinking back to the times when I did watch fireworks, they were mostly usually spheres of particles. Gotta have some variety though!

and yeah, the sitting alone on a roof is very much based in reality, although I didn't sit alone on the roof, I did sit alone on the 4th of july, and it was raining but people were still shooting off fireworks. The two burgers were just 'cause I ate two burgers lol. Really it's just supposed to be a representation of how I was feeling in that moment, not really brought on by anything, just generally being depressed and my dumb brain making me isolate myself from others because that's what it does.

shit this just made me realize I forgot to add some stuff to the description, dammit I had so long to prepare for this and I still manage to fuck stuff up!!!!!!!!!!! lol
