yeah so sometime around 2020 when the pandemy hit i started working on a danganronpa x animal crossing fangame. i was calling it "danganronpa - new horizons" and i started making some pixel arts of it along with the game itself on gamemaker, i even got in contact with some people to work with me on this like voice actors and stuff. well... now its 2022 and the game is still not out yet. dunno if i should just call it cancelled or not lol but working on that game was quite an experience for me, both in programming (i have ascended on the computer graphics topic with gamemaker 3d tutorials) and in storytelling.

i had some really cool ideas for this game, jeez at some point i shifted all the direction of the game to focus on the theme of cancel culture and my mind started blowing ideas after that. dunno man, maybe someday i'll pick it up again, maybe i'll take this project and turn it into a completely original game with original characters mechanics and stuff, but only in a distant future. perhaps the second one.

OH YEAH i forgot to explain what's going on here. so the game would actually have only SEVENTEEN characters instead of the 27 in the picture.

if you've played danganronpa before you know the killing games usually start with 16 characters, and that would be exactly the case here, with tom nook being the mastermind of the killing game.

at some point i considered having the player choose between a male and female version of the protagonist to play as, but i realized that would be too much work so i scrapped that and left it with only the female version because i thought she looked better.

of all the characters i made pixel arts of, the only ones who would ACTUALLY show up in the game are shelly (protagonist), tom nook, isabelle, rover, digby, k.k., kapp'n, sable, blathers, katrina, jingle, kicks, label, resetti, redd and reese. "what!!! those are only 16 characters!!!" yep, i actually couldn't decide who the last character would be. i thought lottie at first but i dont know shit about this character. thought of leif too but poor leif i didnt want him to go through this :(. lyle would actually make a plot hole in the story since nobody would be in charge of the happy home academy during the game. same for brewster, i would make him take the role as the mayor of the village as everyone is killing each other in this weird place.
