Wheres that TLDR?
The Hren are one of the first few sapient races that came to exist on the planet Embre. As such, they are also among the only ones to possess latent magical powers due to the presence of cosmic substrate within their biology, specifically their skeleton from which they can flare magical electricity. Due to their practically customary knowledge of cosmic substrate, their abilities are beneficial for the processes of invention, spell-casting, and speechcraft. The Hren are indigenous to the island of Hrei, and it is from there that the first Hrenish empire was founded after centuries of conflict between disparate Hrenish tribes. The Hren were the first race to establish an imperial power on Embre, followed by their genetic cousins the Gore, and soon after the Utico and the Niami, newer races appearing after the Light's Dimming. The Hren's early expansion came from their discovery of the power of cosmic substrate and the methods they would cultivate to bring out and refine that power. During the Second Epoch, the Hrenish Ascendancy conquered the nearby continent of Ywea (before losing a portion to the Gore), subjugating the native races into serfdom which led to the propagation of the Fehlmen in the Third Epoch. During the Fourth Epoch, the Hren came to discover a strange, bountiful continent in Freeland, establishing colonies there and competing with the other racial empires of Embre for dominance over the new world.
This is the second entry in a series I intend to put out describing the different playable races that appear in Freeland: New Unity. These will be much more descriptive than the first complete sheet I put out, including not just the biological characteristics of the race but also their history in Freeland's world. I will also be creating brand new races not present in the first sheet, and some that were present will be heavily changed.
