"The Fallen Angel" (by Alexandre Cabanel) is a religious-themed art piece that depicts The Devil, and since it's already something I directly referenced in a similar art piece earlier this year, I thought I'd redraw it with a ton more detail for Madness Day 2023.
Masculine, muscular and rendered anatomy hasn't always been my forte, but upon working through this piece, not only have I purely relied on 'trust the process', But I've relied on the support I've gotten for others (via close family/friends and social media), which helped keep the motivation up.
I've never done a background like that, shoot me in the eye, I tried my best, Sorry!
My only idea with this was to just keep building it up until It made me happy, to which I happily went from just having the janky lineart, to having janky lineart paired with some half-decent shading.
A bit of the progress was made whilst streaming on Twitch, most of it was actively documented on Twitter.
I take pride in this piece and I hope it sparks joy, the same way it sparked joy within me when I had to call the doctor and get diagnosed with carpal tunnel.
Hank does numbers on grunts the same way this piece did numbers on my right hand. <3
(lineart)
(Skin shade and lineart)
(The only important part of the background)
(a very low-quality ss of one of the streams I did which was documenting a bit of the progress. immediately afterwards, I soaked my right hand in ice and water for 30 minutes.)
(I was fighting for my life with this one, I spent an hour and a bit doing the background but those angle things took me an HOUR. IDK HOW?!)
Have a good Madness Day everyone! Love you all <3
