I was definitely trying something a little different with this one. I was going for a more stylized color palette; I wanted to emulate a bit of Bob Eggleton, especially with the use of green (as he describes the use of green, it's a very "modular" color). I also wanted to use some purple, and the combination of the yellow, green, and purple really gave this a really toxic, oily feel. I always try depicting Hedorah with such a disgusting feel, given that it's literally a walking mass of sludge. And, as usual, if I ever include some pollutant to compliment the Smog Monster (such as the oil refinery), I always try to make it look as grimy and disgusting as the creature it spawned.
