Illustration of the song "Король и Шут - Город Мертвецов"

Share

This is a text of song "Король и Шут - Город Мертвецов" translated into English:

Somehow a monk appeared in the city. He turned to passers-by:

- I seem to know what you have in your dreams, for this I came down from the mountains! Do you want to live forever? You're lucky! Of course, I’ll multiply your number of years... You are all lucky. Bring the vat, fill it with wine, and I will drop a potion there. Drink to health! And then for you will come eternal fun.

[Chorus]

- There, in the monastery, an ancient recipe, the trail of ancestors, an age-old secret, was entrusted to me. Where did I come from - there is no death.

A small town forgotten by the world, it has been the same for hundreds of years: crowds of townspeople whose term has long expired, scurry about, look like ghosts. In the mornings, streams of their wandering bodies in the alleys arise. By dusk it became deserted - the city was empty, the shadows were frozen at the windows.

- Do you want to live forever? You're lucky! Of course, I’ll multiply your number of years...

[Chorus]

- There, in the monastery, an ancient recipe, the trail of ancestors, an age-old secret, was entrusted to me. Where did I come from - there is no death.

The monk did not say the main thing then, that soul has its own fate - that’s the trouble ... And there are no emotions, only memory directs them, the living dead flooded the streets.
