Reviews for "DJ Kolj - Rampage"

Awesome.

This is just awesome! I love it!!

Great job with this piece of work!

In the beginning, it started off nice. Towards the beginning and the middle of the audio, you have something going on here. The extreme beats and rhythems were awesome to hear. They were quite repetitive at times but that's ok, it's no biggie. The Trance in this audio was exceptional. Could of been a little better though since this sounded a little like Techno more than Trance. I liked this! Overall, this audio was great and I enjoyed hearing this! Great Work kolj! :D

Meta Knight X reviews "Rampage"

Well, if you haven't checked out 586rick's new VG remixes, do so, and for God's sake, if you haven't heard ParagonX9's "Chaos Fantasy", you've been under a rock. Anyways, here goes.
Kolj, I love your synths, they are extremely enjoyable, and very reminiscent of NG's best industrial artist Helix6. I really did enjoy the overall sound of your piece.
However I believe that balance in a piece, or the good use of imbalance, is the most important aspect of a piece. I think this piece, "Rampage", lacks that balance, or even a good imbalance.
I suggest having a better ambi-balance, that is the balance between the echo, reverb and ambient effects creating a sort of musical bubble for your listeners. That way it will make the listener feel like they are listening inside the song rather than the song coming at them. Right now, I get the impression of the song coming to me, not me being immersed in the song.
Another thing that I particularly found to be annoying was the over use of dissonance. What I mean is that I think the chords you went to and from didn't quite match, leaving the listener a little unsettled, and not really able to get "into the piece". As said, try to create a "bubble" for your listeners to come into, even if the piece is meant to be frightening or scratchy, because those songs can have excellent balance too.
If you need a good reference for all of these suggestions, please view some of Helix6's pieces, especially his earlier ones such as "No.6" and "My Best Friend (not what it sounds like and my favorite of all his pieces)". Helix6 really has near-perfect balance in his music, even though all of it is designed to be rough, scratchy, edgy, intense, and disturbing. Also I would look into using more effects in your songs, also demonstrated by Helix6. By learning from each other, musicians gain knowledge and experience and use this to further the world around them as well as their own.
Now I know that was a lot of advice, but I feel that you could have done much more with the piece to make it more "user friendly". Overall I think your sound is good, but balance, effects, and feel are just not quite right. Please, I do enjoy music almost more than anything, so keep posting, and use knowledge to get to be a better musician! I look forward to more great pieces from you Dj Kolj.
In the mean time, I will be reviewing Helix6 whenever I get the chance away from classes, and look at 586rick for some truly quality video game remixes and Helix6 for the best industrial on Newgrounds.
Sincerely and God Bless,

AWSOME

this song should have made, no.1 of best of the week!!

Nice, but the synth...

I like the melody for this, it just seems like the "weepy" synth used throughout the song could be changed to something better. Perhaps a saw (with plenty of resonance, of course). Just a thought.

Otherwise, very good job. Nice Melody, Nice drums, Nice work!
