Could be better
You should at least attempt to make some custom sprites, so the 2D characters don't look so goofy when they're running up or down. A good way to do that for any MMX character, is to get a sprite of them climbing a ladder.

I liked that. But Im getting a little tired of seeing so many Sonic VS Mario spinoffs. This one was good though.
