Reviews for "Run To The Hills"

True Art

An absolute fine job my friend, you sure know your way around a palate. The shading on the cowboy's horse and on the crags behind him really evoke that feeling of a real painting while at the same time creating great contrast with the level of detail, right down to the individual hairs in the mane of the horses. And the darkened sky really reflects well the Iron Maiden origins. But to answer Samus24's question, I don't know that he was really going for a specific tribe, but judging by the midwest-style location it could have been anything from Apaches to Navajos. However, so many tribes inhabited the area that it is hard to say for sure.

VillainousTurtleSLC responds:

Yeah it could even be Utes, Paiutes, Goshutes, Shoshone, or Navajos because the landscape is based off Bryce canyon Utah. But I didn't make a conscious thought to that fact when drawing. Very nice review thank you soooo much.

Oh yeah!!

Yaaaayyy!!GO INDIANS!!KILL THAT YELLOW-BELLIED SALAMANDER!!SHOW HIM IT WAS OUR TURF FIRST!But oh boy, what can I say about this masterpiece?Looks like you really took your time detailing every speck of dirt, rock, clothing and so on.Shading looks pure awesome and really fits the mood. All in all, this should hang in a famous museum that robbers always try to steal from. And they'd prolly steal this to hang on their wall instead of selling it because it's too valuable. But just one question,What tribe of Native Americans are these two from?

VillainousTurtleSLC responds:

Paiutes were the tribe inhabiting the area this painting was based on. So maybe Paiutes man. Love your review!

Nice work

You must have more patience than I do to work out all those little details in the environment, they're impressive. The two guys in the foreground look just a little like they're starting to slide of the horses--not sure if you were aiming for that or not. Great job on the cowboy hat, and the clouds! Especially on the clouds. Those aren't easy.

VillainousTurtleSLC responds:

Haha yeah I have no life. I can't make it perfect but this was very fun to do and a lot of work! Thanks!!

Now THIS...

This is a great effort done for the lyrics of a song. Seriously, i can almost EMBRACE those clouds, and the rest is very detailed. Worth a lot more when Full Sized.

You, sir, are grawsome.

good stuff!

so much effort in this!
nothing to say on proportions, awesome figures.

the colours are just right, but the shadows are not so realistic imho
just use darker colours and try different tones to create more depth.
the background looks a little flat, use harder shades there too!

except that, great work.
