Reviews for "[MS] - Blue Oiled Potatoes"

gah

yayz finally got to use a laptop

wtf defines the NASA genre

k. I've been listening to this tune for quite a while but haven't got to comment yet- This piece of awesome has a great calming, chill feeling. Prolly because of the water effects. Nice sounding drum samples and patterns, fx sounds wicked awesome too. A bit lack of melody which makes it sound more like a rhytmic soundtrack.

what LJC said, get signed n shit-this has amazing quality

MackerelSalad responds:

NASA = teh win
I think I'm gonna start working on a NASA EP with some other laddies.
I'm not planning on trying to get signed yet, I really lack skills at the moment, and I have a very slow pace of producing.
Thanks for the review, man!
I appreciate it.

Thats my Salad :D

Hmm this reminds me a lit of Amon Tobin or something. Its really moody sort of stealthy piece. I could see this in 2 games, splinter cell or like Metroid.

Starts off right nice. Simple little drumbeat. Little effects in the background sound perfect. I like the little synth going on there too.

The beat starts to breakout a bit. Speeds up and some more instruments come in. I love that broken up, almost guitar-like sound.

The next part really reminded me of Boards of Canada. That pad sounds really cool along with the slow drumbeat.

You really outdid yourself this time man. Keep up the awesome work :D

MackerelSalad responds:

I set high standards, so outdoing myself was in place here.
Thanks man, I'll be woking a lot on new shit next week starting wednesday.
Thanks!

This is a salad of pure awesomeness

as always I'm very intrigued by the complexity of IDM music. I have no choice to give IDM music scores 9 or higher because they are quite diverse, and SO good sounding, in a real, unusual way. this track certainly is no exception. I DL'ed a little IDM plugin the other day, I guess I kinda figured out how to use it...but still can't make anything good sounding with it.

nice interesting blending of sounds on the first half of the track..the drums and bass sound really finesse..I like the hip hopish sounding lead synth...and then I heard some middle easternish sounding melodies kinda hidden in the track..they were pretty cool. I like the ambient feel around 2:00, it sounds like I'm in an eletronic forest or something. anyway, I don't know what else to say about the track, but its really cool and unique. I could see this being used in a futuristic game. nice mixing, everything sounded authentic and created no problems on my speakers. and it was more than just mixed well, it was mixed creatively. again, good job. I think I just warped to the year 2377.

MackerelSalad responds:

THATS MAI SALAD

Damn good stuff...

All around good track. The high end sounded just a hair hollow but that might be my speakers so it's not a big deal. Good bass. Very chilled out track - always nice to hear new stuff on NG that doesn't suck! :D

Keep 'em coming! And start looking into labels.

»!5/5!«

MackerelSalad responds:

this is my first finished track in a while. Haven't got much time, so I reserved a couple of hours for myself for a change. shitty school >8(
I may look into labels next year, or the year after, since I'm getting back a lot of my free time.
Thanks for your review, LJ. :D
