Reviews for "Down the River from Kievan Rus"

((VOTED 5))

Very nice song dude. It sounded great. Almost like the kind of music from those 1950s christmas songs. Which is a good thing because I personally love those songs. A little thing you just might want to change is make it louder because it was pretty quiet and whenever I put my speakers up high I get a static noise. Anyways it was a great song. Good job.

nice composition

not bad. it's not perfectly smoothed out, but the composition is diverse and interesting. good work. oh and can you tell me what software you used? nice instruments.

Esn responds:

I just used Finale 2007, with the GPO. The "2 harps" were originally a guitar and a santur (this was written for a rather diverse real-life ensemble), but the GPO in Finale didn't have either one so I changed them both to "harp". I think it worked out relatively well.

Could you please tell me (PM, perhaps) what in particular wasn't smoothed out? I know that there are some things, but I'd really like some specific pointers if possible.

Thanks very much for your review. :)

Yes, Good

I am getting the feeling that I'm inside a first class pub. With this, I also get the feel of being underwater, you may think this is a strange feeling, but those waterphones is what does it.
I can see myself playing King's Quest with this music playing, or an old VGA Adventure Game.

Your choice to combine the viola with the cello gives it that true classic feel, and also with the brass and waterphones (at least that's what they sound like), gives the easy flow of a slow promotion to adventure.

Your music is quiet, and soothing to listen to. For this, I give you a ten and a five vote.. as seeing you were probably zero voted by idiots.

Nice Progression,
Bosa

Esn responds:

Thanks Bosa.

Although it was actually a euphonium/violin combination, to tell the truth (not cello).

Sweet!

Well written Esn. Well written indeed. I personally felt there were segments that seemed a little rushed.

I'm talking about roughly after the one minute mark, there is a flurry of sounds. I understand that this makes for a great image of a "rushing" river, but somehow I don't quite like how it was handled. Don't get me wrong, I like the part itself, which might sound contradictory to what I said, but I mean I just don't quite like the structure behind the construction, not the actual segment itself... if that makes any sense.

I really like it after 2:12... it becomes really melodic, and really powerful then. Well written there.

It's a nice mellow piece. Well worth the listen. Keep up the good fight Esn! Keep em coming!

Nice! vote 5!

Nice work dude! I love it. but it is still missing something...
