Reviews for "Path Maker"

I'm having a lot of trouble just staying on a block. Once I land on a block, I will just slip off -- which is very annoying.

MrNannings responds:

can you check again, i made it less slippery

Great and easy game to earn some medals.

Controls are not the best. The game in general seems a little unfinished, especially level design. Although the idea is interesting, and game in general good.

Really fun game! Feels like it could have been a homebrew app for the DS, or one of those flash games you'd play in computer class in middle school. I've toyed around with a similar "build as you play" platformer idea, but you've done an excellent job executing it! I like the idea of having leaderboards for level speed runs too :)

I do agree that the character does feel a bit slippery to the point of being annoying, however, the way this game is set up you don't lose lives and it is pretty easy to plan your max jump (looking at the block grid). Overall (as I'm sure you can tell from the score) I thought this game was pretty awesome the fact that it did have its little annoyances didn't ultimately piss me off. Well, it did piss me off, I rage quit in level 21.. I just got sick of dying. But I most definitely had fun up to that point and do not place it out of the realm of possibility that I may come back to this game.

One comment that I had that I didn't notice in other comments. The directional blocks suck. Fine, give us slippery controls and some pretty long levels that we can't plan out in advance. I am totally cool with that, it is a process of discovery. Limit our total blocks? Cool, that makes it a puzzle. Give us annoying blocks that not only have a timer (disappears after being stepped on for a brief time) but changes directions relatively quickly (only going in the direction you want occasionally).. no thank you. Those blocks are annoying, and not in a 'this game is difficult' kind of way but in an 'I will avoid using this block type at all costs' kind of annoying. The blocks moving after you land on them is fine, disappearing after a little while is fine, but when you combine all that with constant direction changes it is junk. Consider changing it so that they change direction until placed and then are in a fixed direction. Trust, they will still be annoying, just not annoying in an 'I hate these blocks' kind of way.

Another suggestion I didn't see elsewhere is there doesn't seem to be any kind of a par for block use in the game, and this game really begs for bonuses or achievements for using fewer blocks. Some levels can be completed without using any blocks. Just a thought.

All told awesome game, it gets my happy!
