I've known these pieces from hearing them countless amounts of times. I can usually pick up on how to play a song once I've heard it a few times.
As far as what to do concerning which songs to play when, I just winged it as I played.

Its one thing to remake video game music. But its genius when the melody you create sounds just as good (if not better) than the actual soundtrack from the game. You have achieved just that my friend. I've never heard a tune from any game that has be remade so well, and so beautifully.
