So it has the robots from the anime but animated with western quality, cool. I don't think it was ever explained if sonic is possessed or if it's a demon taking his form.

It's typically the creepypasta type of Sonic. It's been a thing since creepypasta were popular in the internet back then.
Loved the reference to Eggman somehow outrunning Sonic when he runs inside of the Death Egg Robot in Sonic 2. Also I liked how it ended in a way I was not expecting.
