Reviews for "MUTT and CHOPPS"

They remind me of two wastelanders I killed.

I dig this. It's classical in execution and there's a lot of content here for something that just popped up seemingly out of nowhere.

There's something special about these characters. A certain je ne sais quoi to the way they're acted that makes them a joy to watch, even if they're not necessarily accomplishing much.

A few people were saying something like, "This is youtube material," and that couldn't be further from the truth.
This is pure from camera-winking irony. It actually tries to immerse you in some way, which is a sight for sore eyes.

Now onto specific people:

Brian, your music created a fantastic vibe. I was enchanted by the sitar bits and I feel like you were inspired by the recent Sherlock Holmes movies, a vibe that I personally adore. Great work.

Hans & Carlos: The exaggerated motions created wonderful silhouettes and there is seriously not enough of that going on in live action these days. You HAVE to keep going with this. Whoever did the makeup did a great job. I don't think it would have been possible for someone who hasn't animated at least a little bit to do as good a job as you guys did here.

Tomar: Everything you did here was spot-on to the philosophical hippie thing. The character voice was perfect, and I got some chills watching that bit with the exploded dome. That was cool.

Cid: The script was great. Nothing swung and missed for me, and upon watching again I noticed that "as long as they don't run" line.

Eiomaru: You got a great performance out of the whole cast. If you didn't, this would have probably taken a lot longer or maybe even sucked. Actors don't know how they look until they're on the screen and it takes a good eye to know when to call it good and when to reshoot. Great job.

JamesLee: Very nice clangs. I could feel how much dew's head would have hurt if he wasn't already dead.

In summation, all I can think of when I see this is, "this is a product of people who love what they're doing."
It fucking rules and it belongs here.

This one seems to be quote unquote controversial. Sometimes I wish there was an option of "no rating, only review".

Will this submission open the floods for live shorts? People seem to forget numa numa dance, which popularized NG a lot back in the day, or the Oney/Stamper slumber party, which is an NG classic. So it's not really a new thing, and so far, every time someone submits youtube-tier shit, it's blammed to death.

In many ways it seems not necessarily WHAT is uploaded, but by WHOM.
Had the same vid been uploaded by some unknown person (and I'v seen superior
live-action shorts on NG) it would be 100% deleted (I know, because I witnessed it happen a LOT).

Indeed, it's a good question about the future of NG. I guess that it's okay for live-shorts to be submitted on NG. I mean, if they are bad, users will vote 0. And if they're good, they will vote 5.

Now, onto the movie itself.

The visuals are great, and I was tempted to give 5 based on visuals alone, but the movie itself is very boring, had to fast-forward a lot. There isn't much happening. No wacky adventures, no comedy, not much plot, just slice-of-life on apocalyptic desert. The pacing guys, the pacing is the key. The whole movie could be easily shortened to 5 minutes, and it would still be boring. There is a potential for a franchise, though. Introduce some cyborgs, mutants, and have them go adventure time.

I give it high rating out of fear for harassment by fanboys.

love it!

Seemed to pick up and get better and things went on, "Land of Water" was great and the mixed visuals of live-action and animation was great. Minimal use of colors helps allow for the imagination to run wild while the story of these two goes along. Glad they finally got to the water, kind of curious to see where the duo go from here. :D
