Reviews for "Eternal Melody"

I'm here,

because I took note of the generous and helpful reviews you left New-Milkman.. And I'm glad, because you seem like a pretty decent person.. Not to say the AP doesn't have a fair amount of them kicking around, but rather that there are FAR more people that probably shouldn't be here. And of course I never saw you in the AP :P

But onto the actual song, excellent use of what I can only call a formant. This is fantastic, and almost is simple to the point of being exceedingly enjoyable. The hits, incredible! Although, if I may, try not to strech samples anything more than a key up or down.. It, though maybe still sounding fairly nice, tends to lose alot of believability.

I actually have a good 'orchestral hits' soundfont if you want it.

My only beef with the song is that some sort of pad after the hits to fill the song out would have been fantastic, but I didn't deduce anything from your score seeing as how this is your first time.

For being your first hack at it, this was unbelievably awesome! At least compared to my first attempts at writing melodies.. Which ended up with a lot of projects in the 'recycle bin', exactly where they don't belong. They were outright trash and there was nothing worth salvaging from them at all :P

Awesome job, I'm off to review your newer stuff now :D

Karco responds:

Wow, my first review for this song, in... what, two months? Reviews for some of my latest would be more appreciated, but if you apparently want to see how I improved, fine with me. :P

Yeah, I tend to give as much helpful advice as possible where needed. I'm sure plenty of people do. :)

Now, tell me... what's a formant? A typo? Hah! Simple to the point of being exceedingly enjoyable... well, frankly, this sucks compared to my other songs, save the melodies which I plan to use in a remix, remake, or sequel of some kind someday. The hits... they came with FL and it was in my nature (at the time, of course - I've grown out of this! XD) of using anything that sounded cliched and cool to use them. That you think they actually worked more than I think they did surprises me. Orchestral hints? I'm interested. Send a PM my way. :)

Yeah, actually, I didn't know what a pad was until I started making my first song, Dark Storms at Sea. So, naturally, I didn't bother looking for one to hold the song together.

For my first, I'll agree it was good... not to the degree you say it is, but a bit more than decent. Thanks for the review! :)

Ahahahaha, it's aiight. Makes me want to dress up like a cheese ball and goto a rave and act like this is the best song ever and act like a freak..ahahah. Those sounds have been used soo much though, with like, no processing it's hard to give you anything for originality...If you get some more time into instruments and work with them.. It will be a really cool thing, cause you have the melody worked up great with all kinds of awesome supporting things going on...it rules.

and i dig that. and everything works. so big ass props to you my friend.

Karco responds:

Hey, thanks for the advice, though I've been told that a couple of times. Still, I'll keep that in mind. Oh, and you might want to review my latest song, "Dark Storms."

Potential is here.

This seriously sounds like a boss battle. so I seriously wouldn't choose "eternal melody" as a title.

It starts out seriously amateurish, without much changes in the way the song is going, then there comes a Video Game sound, and the song gets faster and better.

I don't think this is the most exciting song I've heard in my life, but if you only use the FL demo (Which can't be saved, right?), I think this could have really good potential. If you get the full version I think you could get really good, so go and spend some moneh now!

The problem with this song is that all synths and instruments are hopelessy over-used, the sawtooth, I believe is one of the far most used synths ever used. It is a good synth, but still I could like to see people have more synths than that.

And the bass is simple, far too simple, I could like to see quite a lot more diversity in it, but seriously, the bass is damn good! It makes the song much better, and if you made some more complexity it would be even better.

I loved the video game sounds in this, they made the song so damn much better, and if they were even louder they could have made a really good boss battle track.

The drums were ok, but I could like to see some more than the few you had. Still the drum beat is there when it's supposed to, and therefore it's working.

You have the potential to make great songs if you just give them enough time. Keep it up!

Karco responds:

You're the first one to say something more than "great for your first," which really helps. Just so you know, I called it Eternal Melody because the melody has been stuck in my head as long as I can remember. (And I mean that literally!) It does have a video game sound, though. Thanks a lot for this review, you've really helped me out in making my next song, which I suggest you come by my page to review once I submit it. So far, I'm really proud of it - much more than this song. Don't worry about the full version of FL... I've just bought the downloadable version and I'm waiting that 48-hour wait for it.

I've also noticed something, (and this goes to everyone else who reviewed this song as well) which is everyone seems to be reviewing only this song. I'd like some opinions on my other songs, as well! :)

Good job.

Sounds great for your first song. The synths and beat work together quite well ^_^

Karco responds:

Wow, a 10? I wasn't expecting that, thanks! Glad to hear - pardon, read - you like it. :P

Definitely in no way this can be the worst.

This is indeed very good for a couple of first songs a lot of people can hardly pull off a good beat and somthing gives off emotion in theyre very very first tries.

It not the best but more than half decent, so i must say its already better than the best. think you can make more?

(Pssst my music is getting lonely wanna check it out? ya dont have to.)

Karco responds:

Yay, another review! Wow, I can't believe standards for first songs are so low. :P Then again, I do have previous musical experience (sorry if that sounds like bragging, I'm not).

Anyway, glad to hear you like it. I plan to remake this song once I get better at this. And don't worry, I'll go look at your music. :)
