OMG that was totally funny! I love animation of all kinds and this was probably one of the most refreshing Genera crossovers I have seen in a while. Spongebob Squarepants being taken so far out of context and made so over the top serious and SO 'Japamation' made this a total hit with me. Also the numerous references to the various forms of violence portrayed in so many Japanese animations and the weird out of place conflicts and type character references such as Plankton being some maniacal evil genius in the Japamation style and all the warrior character references were too much. Even Sandy Cheeks being a fighter crushing Plankton robots was just so Japamation.
There is a singular and VERY open referential joke to the Yaoi Fandom out there between Spongebob and Squidward. That alone shown a depth to the humor that reached ALL the way into Japanese fandom short of the Tentacle Monsters and young teenage school girls and all that good time Hentai. There were a couple of brief and somewhat tame Hentai references as well. Just no Tentacle Monsters unless... Squidward??? Does he count??? This compressed a heck of a lot of Japamation into a relatively short animation.
This was parody, comedy, outrageous, and dotted with a wide flavor of Japanese Animation Classic references. I loved it. The art fit perfectly. The character re-imagining to fit the animation was flawless. The music was so Japamation it touched this off so perfectly. So this is Bikini Bottom in Japan? Wow, its more active than the original for sure. A sponge of action!
Oh you Weaboos... the things you inspire.
