Reviews for "Harry Propane"

I found the controls a bit cumbersome, but it's easy to see the amount of work that went into this game.

The attention to detail on little parts of the game like how the character's body moves when looking around didn't go unnoticed. The thing that impressed me the most was the excellent lighting. Did you program this solution on your own, or is there some library you used? Were you using normal maps?

Either way, well done.

I think the controls could be tweaked to be a bit smoother (I agree with the other comment about WSAD and the space bar. Maybe W could be a contextual button that either jumps or climbs based on state?), but overall, a lot of fun. Great job

LeechmasterB responds:

Thanks and yes, the game uses soft shadows with normal maps and screen space ambient occlusion. All without using the 3d api of flash. The solution is self programmed also using pixel bender. :)

Simple brilliant but a few glitches cause me to fall out of the map and restart the whole game when at check points

I find it a big minus when its WASD to move, but W doesn't jump and you are forced to use spacebar. Maybe make the controls customizable if you feel using a separate jump button is better

LeechmasterB responds:

The controls can be customized in the options menu.

I like it, but i have a bug when i try to go up when im hanging a cornice

This game is definitely a lot of fun, but there are some flaws.
First of all, the automatic checkpoints. At some point I went in a fight and the checkpoint saved right before I died. Because of this I had to move backwards when the checkpoint loaded so I didn't get insta-killed and then I had to play with a single hitpoint. This level happened to have little health, so that was problematic. Maybe it is better to have some sort of checkpoint that can be activated by using it. I also didn't see a way to reset the level, only load the checkpoint.
A big flaw was the ending, or lack thereof. I walked through a corridor and the credits roll... That was very anti-climactic.
Overall the game was great, the graphics where great and the story seemed compelling, although the sudden ending was a bit weak storywise.
The locations where also awesome: cities, underwaterbases, moonbases... Those are always nice locations for an action game.
This game really does have a lot of potential.
