Reviews for "Weedcario!"

Really funny xD Nice animation / drawing skill you got there buddy . Kinda looks like an old comic book graphic , I like that ! Nice work !

HOW DID THIS GET FRONTPAGED

SirLenward responds:

pokemon + drugs = Frontpaged

Actually JaScoMcSon, I would say this is pro-cannabis since these three were having the time of their lives, acting silly, doing nothing wrong only for the cops to arrest them even if they're hurting nobody. Kinda how I viewed the video even though I felt the arrest part was unnecessary myself

I would like to say this is some uninspired drivel but honestly its not terrible from a creativity standpoint. The Quality, Concept, and Execution are a bit lacking but from a conceptual standpoint it most definitely is what you advertised it to be Weed Lucario.

Congratulations this is acceptable. But that is it. 2.5 Stars.

I had to watch this twice before rating it. I have to say this crossed a very dangerous ground to tread on. "Stoner Humor," is tough from someone unfamiliar with the world of stoners. While an attempt at humor this drips of "Reefer Madness" logic and ends with a "Cold Shower" ending.

Fist of all if you are going to attempt humor like this in animation again I would STRONGLY offer some reference material to go by. Rippoff Press Fabulous Furry Freddy Freak Brothers. This is probably the BEST OF THE BEST core material for Stoner humor. No it was never really animated and I am not sure how far the Grass Roots - Fabulous Furry Freddy Freak Brothers claymation movie has come along if it even got past its Promo Trailer, it is a comic book series and a LONG one. Cheech Wizard and Sunpot are also two alternative comic books that also offer a great look into Stoner humor.

I will give you props for the work. You did it, you completed it, and it is here on Newgrounds. I am not going to dock you for being insulting openly or an openly political propagandized D bag trying to sneak a bogus opinion or open lie onto us using art as their vehicle. I can smell BS from a mile away and this is not going to get that call. You tried to keep it in the context of the joke you were building. The joke itself was in my opinion badly executed. It came off WAY too Rat Fink or the Rob Zombie Beavis and Butthead (The movie specifically the Mescaline Scene in the Desert) kind of animation.

The humor was too "stupid silly." I know this was intentional up to the point of the Cold Shower and the Bum Rap ending. The problem is Stoners don't usually act like that. Add Alcohol... DIFFERENT CONVERSATION! Also in reality the cops don't come banging on your door unless someone in that house did something before to attract their attention. If they had a pile of stolen good on the table while getting a good high on the joke would have made much more sense.

While I see good technical skills in the animation the joke delivery was flat and dry and just so out of touch. I know you can do better. For more source material as in raw movies that portray more in tune stoner humor here is a short list and I know you might love some of these movies;

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Drugs used; Pharmaceuticals, Marijuana, Alcohol.
Footnote: warped logic. GREAT under the influence scenes. The Lounge Lizards are epic.

Half Baked. Drugs; Marijuana
Footnote: One of THE stoner movies. Don't give munchies to a Diabetic Horse!

Get Crazy. Drugs; Pharmaceuticals, LSD, Marijuana, Alcohol
Footnote: Also a Definitive "Stoner Movie" with VERY accurate portrayals of under the influence behavior. Also Electric Larry IS the guy with the right drugs at the right time!

Cheech and Chong Up In Smoke.
Cheech and Chong Nice Dreams. Drugs; Marijuana and Alcohol
Footnote: Two of the best of the best of the Cheech and Chong series. These two movies should be required viewing for those seeking to pursue stoner humor in animation on par with Half baked.

And for added measure to include being under the influence of alternative drugs (COCAINE);

Metalocalypse. Drugs; ALL OF THEM.
Footnote: Pay more attention to Dr. Rockso the Rock and Roll Clown (Shhhhh, he took Cocaine. A lot of Cocaine). He is a VERY accurate portrayal of a Coke Fiend.

Squidbillies. Drugs, Marijuana, Meth, Bathtub Pharma
Footnote: I have met people like this in real life and that is terrifying to think this behavior can be real. IT IS!

Heavy Metal. Drugs; Cocaine (Plutonian Niborg)
Footnote: the particular scene in Question is called "Nose Dive." I don't remember exactly if the episode within the animation is called "So Beautiful, So Dangerous," or "Grimaldi" but it is the part of the show where a UFO with a huge smiley face is hovering over the Pentagon. A shockingly accurate portrayal of being under the influence.

Sponge Bong Hemp Pants; Parts 1 through 3. Drugs; Marijuana, Hashish, Speed, Crack Cocaine, Mushrooms
Footnote: Scary accuracy in portraying the Characters even if it is a parody of Sponge Bob.

There are many others but these examples of past Cinema should give you a great idea of the real world of stoner humor is. If you have seen Reefer Madness I can tell you for a fact it is total BULLSH... Total BS. There are drugs that make people act crazy like the do in that propaganda movie. Flakka, Spice, Bath Salts, and Molly come to mind. Then again some people get this way when they get drunk. Also Meth makes people act this way.

Look, I hope you do produce something more in the proper vein of stoner humor in the future. Don't let a weak first blush attempt derail other efforts. Rome wasn't built in a day and not one masterpiece I am aware of was painted in a day either (and I am completely ignoring by choice Abstract and "Impressionist" art. I am sticking to Proper Masterpieces).

It would be nice to see a real good rip on Pokemon as always. I LOVE a good parody. This one just fell short on me. Granted this is ALL personal opinion. I just think you need more appropriate framework to go by for future efforts.

Thanks for the advice! Means a lot!
