Reviews for "MAKE IT as an Artist"

It's phenomenal how un-phenomenal this is. You really captured the essence of this life.

Game is impossible to play. Meters deplete too fast to make any progress.

Your sprite work and general aesthetic are well done, but the music lasts all of half a minute before it becomes unbearable. The actual gameplay is nonexistent so I can only critique the "artwork" and general message of your game. Which I feel semi misses the mark. I don't want to get to preachy with this, so I'll try and keep this short and sweet.

Art, and by extension making a living through your art isn't the main character's issue. Although this game seems to imply that it is. The issue is him making a living period. He doesn't treat himself right and he doesn't value his self. He believes that his art is the only defining thing that can keep him alive, and to make matters even worse he only presents his art on his terms and in his specific way. Meaning the odds of him making any money off his skill set are incredibly low, and he only views the way for his art to succeed is through it achieving "fame." Which is an infamously difficult task to achieve. In short. The guy is a bundle of complexes, has grossly unrealistic expectations, and poorly manages his life resulting in a cluster fuck of an existence that doesn't accurately represent the life style of an artist.

deathink responds:

Hehe, this was just a quick 24hr GameJam game (although it did take me 3 days).
People are reading way too much into this. I just wanted to be cool like AustinBreed and make an artistic game... you know what, that's a good idea, just go play his games :)

Death? do you want a hug?

deathink responds:

Yes, but only from a naked Carrie-Anne Moss.

Me simulator.
