Reviews for "Sanguine 2"

I like the music, the graphics and the general aesthetic... but the controls are just bad. When moving enemies are on relatively narrow platforms, attacking mid-jump should be something you can do without reliably getting yourself killed. Blood drain and attack should be separate keys: if I'm approaching a human and press D, chances are I want to drain their blood, NOT hit them with my sword, and there really needs to be a better way to distinguish between them than getting right into the enemy space.

Oh, and on my first try I found the chain in the tutorial level, but now I can't seem to find it anywhere? I don't know what's going on here, but whatever it is seems to be a MAJOR oversight on your part.

RayBeckham responds:

Maybe you're just bad? That's ok!

Most enemies aren't that aggressive, especially early game. Rushing straight in and mashing buttons won't go as far as having restraint and evaluating the different ways you can attack an enemy. Mastering the delay of your attack is a rewarding experience and you'll gain skill as you go. But be careful when you run out of blood, because you slow down even further! As the player, you can feel the need for blood, just like your vampire character :^p

When Eleanor grabs a human, there is a 12 frame (1/4th of a second) animation that she spends grappling them. You can't do anything during this animation, so wait till you see that animation start to buffer the blood drain as soon as it completes. The average human reaction speed can see the animation and press attack reactively after the animation begins, so this isn't an issue except for the most exceptional of individuals.

Once you complete the chain tutorial level, the bridge is collapsed and is no longer playable. Since there's one button for the chain and holding up is the only other way to throw it out, it really isn't very hard to remember and the directional input is intuitive to the average person. Unless I do not understand your explanation properly, I don't understand how it is a "major oversight".

If the challenge is too great, it's ok to not like it. I'm not a fan of all games myself and there are just some out there that i'd rather not play. Fortunately, there are many games out there to suit many types of gamers.

Happy gaming, friend!

Admittedly, I suck at these kinds of games. However, the constant sliding of the character, weird control schemes, awkward wall mechanics and a lack of a "tutorial" level kinda hinders it. Keep in mind, "tutorial level" means a level that is quick, simple and covers everything, without holding you back.
Now, this game is rather interesting. Sucking blood to restore health, or choosing to kill enemies is a rather cool mechanic. The stealth mechanic is interesting and provides depth, but is a little too easy, or complete bull when the enemies can fire through walls. Perhaps more enemy depth? Chain is kinda cool, but only really needed here and there. Hooking enemies was cool, and perhaps making it to where you can hook through certain floors for an option would be nice.
Overall, amazing concept, but still lacking in execution.

Cool game but, why the bullets of the enemies come to you through walls? it's very weird.

love it! very challenging but everythings get easier the more you play...maybe a checkpoint more on the ice stage?

It's a great idea and really stylish, but it's hard to control. The character seems to skid and float around a lot. Also, the wall grab is really difficult. I mean, I feel like if I just miss a platform I should be able to grab it and pull up, but in practice I always slide down and die.
