Reviews for "Dagger is Wet"

Not easy
4th (man,woman, rule) is 3F=63, don't know why :)
Anybody further?

It isn't horrible but if you don't know hexadecimals it doesn't make any sense. You also have to get to the right answer the right way for it to work. The first answer is nine which I got to by alternating left and right a lot but it didn't work even though the number was nine.

Gurgie responds:

The tree shows the last 2 digits of your number. It think it was 265 in your case.

Medals dont work for me. Interesting game though.

It's alright I guess?
I mean, it works like this: book gives you a clue. you hit 'enter' and then run around trying to find the right number to get the answer. In each room, there's a hexadecimal number from 0-255 around the lake. The 4 ways you can exit multiply the number by 2 (up), 3 (down), 5 (left) or 7 (right). You might notice those are the first 4 prime numbers, so you can you reach a lot of values just by prime factorization. You can reach a bunch of other values by abusing the fact that it's all modulo 256. If you get stuck (like if you accidentally get to 0, which you can't escape from because 0 times anything is 0), hit tab and it puts you back in room 01.

When you find the right room, you'll know it because the lake is bubbling. You move onto the lake and hit enter and then press down a bunch of times to rescue the coin. Hurray.

So navigation is a pain, but solvable. Like the answer to the first riddle is 9, so that's just down twice (1 * 3 * 3) and the answer to the second riddle is 18, so you go up once down twice (in any order).
Great so far, but the riddles are... ugh.

The first riddle clue is "3 cubed" which is 27, except the answer is 9, which is only 3 squared.
The second riddle clue is "age of adulthood" which varies from country to country, and has historically been much younger or based on puberty rather than age. But, no, you just have to know the author means 18.
The fourth riddle is "The man is a woman, that's the new rule!"... which ... what? Probably some cultural reference I don't get. I tried number of letters (35) but that's not it.

And then your game progress doesn't save.
So it's an interesting idea, but I believe it to be a poor implementation.

Gurgie responds:

Good job, you know the rules!

Thank you, I fixed the first clue text already (now it's squared)! I mistakenly used 9 instead of 27, I am glad it wasn't the other way around (27 is just another down). I will check again if other clues are what I wanted.

Technically, I could fix the rest of the clues by making them less cryptic. Still, I did not want the answers to be obvious and solvable by one person, so unless you are me, you won't be able to know all the answers by yourself. Just like all of the books, there might be multiple interpretations of the same story, so the idea is that you should try all of the different options. Keep in mind, the price for the main game (Sword is Wet) is a real gold (spray) coated physical sword, so the challenge must be real!
The clues are weirdly, Engrishly formulated so have fun trying to google them. Good luck!

Speaking of savestates, I might also think about adding password system to the Wet Sword game (the game doesn't have battery to store your save data normally, unfortunately).
When creating the Dagger edition, I did not think It was necessary, as you can clear the game (and get to any point) in 10 minutes max, if you know the answers. It might be slightly annoying, so I will think about it. It will be needed for the original version, so thanks for the advice!

Have a nice day, and thanks for your feedback again ^^.

Games coded well but I really don't get it
