Reviews for "Serious Dave"

cool 'n' epic!

like controls, kinda easy can get hard, like music, how it has objectives, and quests

This game is going straight to my favorites.
Excellent job on the retro feel, and the music added much the depth of my experience.
Well done.
Some medals would have been nice, but no serious gripes about this project at all.
I look forward to seeing what you come out with down the road.
Keep up the amazing work guys!

Interesting concept, but the way weapon switching is implemented makes it basically unplayable.

It's painfully clear that the intent is for different weapons to be used for different situations. Shotgun is good for most situations. Rocket launcher is good for masses of enemies, but mostly powerful enemies. Plasma gun is good for ghosts, but it fires too slowly for masses of enemies despite passing through a few at a time.

The problem is that you can only scroll through weapons. You can't directly select the one you need, and it feels like there's a lag before you can switch and before the switch takes effect.

I would suggest one of the following tweaks:
Assign each weapon to a number key for switching
Assign each weapon to zxcv and pressing the button fires the gun without any need of switching
Default to the shotgun, since it's the most commonly useful, and use zxc for the other three as per the second suggestion.

It's just a bit too awkward and not fun at present.

Solid gameplay, action-packed and fun! Sound effects are great, some but not too many
weapons to choose from, and rising difficulty. Sometimes needs a little thought as to which
weapon to choose. which challenges tactical thinking.

A little too short, but with the rising difficulty it could be a nightmare afterwards...

Some feedback - the two boss battles do have objectives, but they can only be seen when
dead, and not from the level choice screen. (The final boss has 'collect 200 coins' - does this
even make sense?)
