Reviews for "They Live: The Game"

The game looks really cool, but it might not be as enjoyable as it first appears.

Having to chamber a round after each shot is a bit annoying, when most other games would have this done automatically - and would rather have the player reload the magazine, rather than chambering a new round. However, the game seems to be designed this way to increase the difficulty - and is potentially very interesting, just needs a little getting used to.

Trying to shoot an enemy is difficult, and feels unnecessarily so. The best way to actually hit an enemy seems to be to get up close. Getting right up to their face is the best option.

The hitboxes feel off, somehow. However, I can't say with any certainty why. I believe it might have something to do with the characters' head.

The player has the ability to dodge, however I find this is a useless ability. I can get close to enemies just fine without it, and I don't feel I need to dodge enemy fire. The play area isn't really wide enough to properly make use of that ability. With what is provided, I feel a melee option would be of better use.

Using the sunglasses are, like dodging, useless as there is not enough time to even use them. More importantly there doesn't seem to be a reason to use them beyond the first wave of enemies. Perhaps there is a reason to use them later on, but I haven't managed to make it that far yet.

The death penalty on the score screen seems far too harsh. It takes away a good chunk of money I would have otherwise gotten, which makes the game a lot longer. I don't feel the game is worth playing long enough to actually get some good money, after I die.

Perhaps this is just me though, maybe you'll find the game worth playing longer than I do. Give this game a try and see if you like it.

I really want to like this game, but the controls are pretty bad. It probably would be fun game if it wasn't so unplayable. You really need to fix the controls and the hit detection.

The hitboxes are stupid. I swear one round I got shot by enemies that weren't even on the same plane as me. Futhermore, I hate the whole "get close to shoot things" you have going here (seriously real guns do not require such close proximity to inflict harm), death penalty is too high and that video clip after every death is annoying.

Not really worth playing.

Just not feeling it.

Took me a little bit to get used to the controls, but once I got the hang of it, I was blowing away Captialist alien pigs like Nada himself. Love having Frank for backup. Didn't notice how upgrading Special helped me though.

I suffered a little lag here and there, not sure if it was my computer or the game, but nothing too major. Graphics are an interesting neo-retro look. Is that even a word? The intro was pretty great, and even dying was cool. Music helped keep the mood going. The alien on the far right in the business suit, I take it there's no way to ice him? Every time I charged for him and opened up with both barrels, he seemed to teleport away...

My biggest compliant is that there's only one stage and it could use some enemy variety. Maybe some melee guys or later on they'll send in some dudes in riot gear that you have to roll past to get around their shields. Still, a lot of fun! Thanks for making it!
