Reviews for "RUSH"

Maybe try Space for Jump and M1 for crate, alternatively try putting in an controls button so players can bind it themselves?

Great visual style and runs well on my PC. Was really confused on the first play through but got the hang of it on the second, although I played a long time without ever making it to the end goal. Would have felt more satisfying to have an obtainable initial goal, although not sure what happens after that goal at the moment.

Since you can't jump while carrying a crate, it might be cool if pressing jump also throws the crate. Sometimes when you're in the thick of it, you just accidentally mash the wrong button and while that's proper punishment on one hand, it would also feel great to blast your way out of trouble despite the mix-up.

I like that there are two sets of controls based on which side you want to use, however I think some confusion comes from the controller references to A and B button being more prominent in size... As a newcomer your eyes just sorta glaze over ALL THOSE KEYS and the A and B are the two biggest. It also doesn't mention what to press to start the game; I initially was looking for a place to click (was clicking CONTINUE even though I didn't have any save data) and then was trying SPACE and ENTER before I mentally focused and tried K.

Once I got in the zone, I had a nice groove going on! Could definitely see a whole grand adventure in this style.

Hey, thanks for the review, Tom. Means a lot to me!

The game is short, so it's just a nice ending and game over after you reach the girl.

I've made a quick update with both throwing crate on jump and more "start" keys in the menu (space and enter now works). The "A" and "B" keys were in fact unfortunate choice, I tried to get with the GameBoy theme.

Hope to make a bigger game out of it someday :)

Not sure why most of the comments are on the control scheme... wasd movement, lk for picking up, throwing and dodging. Seems normal to me (Using a qwerty keyboard anyway. Not sure where the buttons are on other keyboards. I would recommend research into alternate keyboards or changing key bindings)

I did wonder how to start for a second, after clicking the button I pressed enter. A 'press k or enter to start' at the beginning would help.

Either way- I enjoyed the game, it's length seemed just right and the change in direction kept it interesting. Good job!

I like it and the theme but sometimes its hard to grab boxes. Maybe if we moved faster it would help other wise keep it up!!!

This game and thousands of others use "love" as some kind of plot point and unlike super meat boy there's not even a clever analog here where the two characters have some kind of relationship beyond being love interests. It's lazy writing and it's got to stop. I don't care about whoever she is so stop acting like I need a reason to run around and throw crates, it's insulting on an intellectual level.

Now that that ugliness is out of the way, the game ran, looks, sounds, and controls fine but one little detail that you forgot to put in the tutorial is that throwing crates at enemies is the CORE gameplay. You tell me how to do it... sure. But you never say why I need to do it. I didn't make the connection between throwing crates and healing at first, so I thought if I could just jump my way through this game then why not? Died my first time, and noticed that my field of vision got smaller the more damage I took. Little did I know that it got smaller over time regardless making it harder to see and that's why I was taking damage.

So I thought "well I just have to take less damage" tried again without throwing crates, same result... but I noticed that my health was going down on it's own. Then after receiving no help from the game I FINALLY decided to look down in the description so see what the fuck was going on. That's where I learned about the health restoration mechanic. Tried again and beat the game easily, but I walked away feeling conned. Like if I just knew how to play from the beginning I wouldn't have wasted so much time.

Use this my friend... USE IT TO GROW!

Zielak responds:

Constructive criticism is always welcome. Noted everything.

Thank you very much for the review, I'll surely use it to grow :)
