Reviews for "A Lonely Christmas"

GORGEOUS.

OH MY GOD.

This piece is so beautiful. That reverse piano effect is to die for. I've always wanted to compose a piece with that effect, but I could never get it right. But you certainly did. Excellent work! I'm probably going to be falling asleep to this song for the next few weeks haha.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks a ton dude! And sorry for the late reply :3
I'm glad that you too liked the effect; I was a bit worried at first, but you and a few others erased all of my doubts.

If you want to know how to reproduce this effect, you can read my ramblings in my reply to BlueOceans's review! It's a bit of a mess, but I think you'll be able to figure it out :D

Merry Christmas, larrynachos!

not bad :)))

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, dude!

A bit late with reviewing here but I was a bit busy with christmassy stuff and travelling around last week.... Anyway... This is beautiful! The reversed sounds add a lot actually! Wasn´t sure if everything is reversed at the beginning but at the end I realized that everything is reversed. Very inspiring, maybe I´ll try to mix a bit of reversed piano sounds to some piano piece or something at some point... I really love the simple motiv you introduce right at the beginning. In general it sounds pretty minimalistic. It definitely reminds me a bit of Phillip Glass, which is a good thing ;) Also you have some nice unexpected modulations in it. Like the one at 2:15. Congrats to the 2nd place and a merry christmas again ;)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

That's fine! I've found Christmas this year to be particularly busy myself too :/
And I still have 2 more tracks to compose this year; one is to finish my final track for the NGMT o.O

I'm glad to hear that you and many others like the reversed effect. Everything is indeed reversed, but the reverse sound is a bit lower in volume than the piano playing the right way :)
Sure! I'd love to hear some more reversed piano tracks :3

This is pretty minimalistic indeed, especially for being me. I tried to stay true to that aspect of broove's music. Sometimes, this is just the kind of track I like to hear, instead of something extremely complex which requires your full attention!

I have real difficulties with writing tracks without interesting modulations. It's my bread and butter XD

Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

Dude, I loved it, i love it. This peice sets a mood and has a nice kinda build up to the stronger parts of the song. So, for improv on any part of this its amazing.
Kudos to you, you've done a great job here and i know you'll continue doing a great job.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, man! I'm really glad to hear that you like the mood and the dynamics. Yeah, parts of the piece were improvised. I had a general idea for the chord progressions throughout the track (but a few spots just kinda happened), and most of the melodies were decided upon on beforehand (though some were not). I'd say it's like 70% composition, 30% improvisation :p
I'll do my best to continue creating good stuff!

It's great! It made me remember the memories which kind of made me lonely....
I don't even know what else to type in this review!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

It's a shame to hear you've had to go through some loneliness, bit I'm glad to hear that the piece works, and that you enjoyed it. Thank you very much!
