Reviews for "No Clue"

cool game brennon, but this fucking level: http://i.imgur.com/FZg4vPM.png
I keep dying and it never feels like it's my fault and the objective is just not fun. I would recommend you to make that level a bit more fair, and a bit more fun. if you do that i can give it a much more positive rating

Very cool. I like the music and everything, will it be a 2 player mode ?

BrennonRamsey responds:

At the moment no. But, maybe in the future.

This is throwback to the crazy platformers of old, filled with impossible jumps, tiny landing spots, moving platforms that shift rapidly back and forth, tons of deadly spikes, rolling balls, backward jumps onto platforms with spikes, and other horrible things that qualify you as an evil genius. It may be too bland for some players, the simplicity of the game play is what makes it work.

I feel like the hit detection around the spikes is a tad too unforgiving. There were times when I would land, nothing would happen, and the a few seconds later, even though I hadn't moved, the game would decided, "Yeah, he touched the spikes," and I would fail. This is exacerbated by the jump mechanic. On one hand, that HUGE, looping jump is necessary to complete most of the levels. On the other hand, there are a lot of precise little jumps to make and the drift the character exhibits when he leaps makes it hard to be as precise as you require around spikes. I have no problem with challenging level design, but try not to make character control the source of the difficulty. That's a good way to lose players.

Also, there were a number of times where the spot you have land disappears off the bottom of the screen, making it difficult to know what to do in mid air. This is especially horrid when you need to land on a moving platform. I suppose it's a valid challenge, but I don't like it.

I also do not like the rolling ball challenges. I found a few ways to manipulate the ball, but none were much fun. You may have something in mind for how to do it, but it's not exactly clear what.

Some people seem to have found the last few levels too easy, but I found them incredibly difficult. Thanks for the memories, the challenge, the epic 8-bit music, and the hair-puling frustration. 4 stars for the game, and a big middle finger to you for the rolling balls. :)

I wonder how many people are going to give you 1 star because "there's a glitch that makes the last jump in the room of columns impossible?"

BrennonRamsey responds:

Thanks for the feedback. If, I know the room your talking about with the long jump that seems impossible that's because it is. You have to go to the left to get the orb.

i liked it...great little time killer!!!

BrennonRamsey responds:

Thanks!

I though it was kinda bland but with some work this can be an amazing game. Its already better than a lot of "finished" games on newgrounds. Just add some excitement of some kind.

BrennonRamsey responds:

Thanks!
