Reviews for "Return to the Playhouse"

Alfred's come home again, a home in which there are Littles (quite cringeworthy fare from the 1980's), Herman Goering and a new, whizzy Tristy doll. I can say "well done" again, but not for the same reasons. At first I thought you might've overdone the lens flare on the fade out to the historic house, but no, it was the last grasp of pure sunlight, before the crucible was entered.

The house did look a tad sparse, a minimalist version of the original, but I suspect our point of view is a bit more 'untainted' at this part in the movie... other things will reveal themselves all too soon I fear. Very proud to have been a small part of this abyssal tapestry. I do worry for the author's sanity in this cinematic venture, there's no lack of previous works that have had mortal complications O_o

Remind me to hang myself if i ever vote any less than 5 on any of your cartoons. Thanks!!!

Wow, I remember seeing the earlier Alfred stuff years ago. This is pretty fantastic. The mixed media reminds me of Jon Dilworth, and your animation has gotten quite good. I also really enjoyed the King of the Hill allusion in the beginning.

I don't have a ton of things I can think of to critique. There were a few bits that could've used more in-betweens, but I'm sure you're aware of those and it hardly detracts from the piece as a whole. The only thing I could suggest is maybe to work on the color pallette a little. It's by no means bad as it is, but the little people could stand to have fewer colors to make them more readable, and a few filters here and there over the whole shot would probably help it look more focused.

Overall great work, looking forward to seeing more!

wow really great work with the animation.. alfred is all types of fucked up but i like it

Where do I even begin? It's astounding how far you've come with animating. Each scene is almost perfectly matched to the music and the quality is so smooth and pleasing to the eye compared to your work just a few years ago.

I really loved how this installation went back to the roots of Alfred's playhouse and used more mental shock value versus the sexual shock value we've been getting from you recently. I also love how you elaborated more on Alfie's personality in this one. His figures taunting and putting him down is a clear sign that he's dealt with severe abuse still can't escape it.

I could really connect to the anguish and depression poor Alfie is in. I think that's one thing that makes these cartoons stand out; they show the darker side of an ill mind that most people aren't comfortable talking about.

This was a rad animation and I can't wait to see more from you! Please keep working hard and making awesome things.
