Ar first, I was irate that I couldn't move around or dodge attacks, as the whole thing seemed to be "destroy every monster before they attack," and at the start you only have one or two hits. However, as I began to unlock other family members, things started making sense. The game really does shine once you begin rescuing people, as they provide you with all the support you need to stop many of those un-dodgable attacks from triggering, and they soak up damage. I managed to win without powering up everyone.
I liked the art style. There some creative nightmare monsters appearing, and each one was more intimidating than the last. I felt like the boos had a few too many hit points, but I did beat him on my second try, so it can't be too much of a problem, and he really only has one devastating phase of attack.
The family were all pretty cool, the amount they helped made it worth gutting it out until the next one came around. The checkpoints also made the experience better.
Music was pretty standard for this type of game... it was good, but I didn't pay much attention to it. Everything else, however, was fun.
