Reviews for "The Last Stick"

awesome game...i enjoyed playing it

Not gonna lie, this game is not only boring, but is, simply put, a rip off of Kingdom Hearts put into "stick-figure" form. Everything down to the audio played when you advance throughout the text is taken directly from Kingdom Hearts itself. This much could have been let slide had the game-play been more diverse or if the game had a more interesting story line. In all respect, this game might be alright with further detail and less ideas taken solely from the KH franchise, but as of right this moment: it's not fun to play at all.

Pretty bad

Look... I know I'm not the only person to say this, but this is not a good game. lol You can tell you guys were very ambitious with for this project, but it was poorly executed. I'm no expert when it comes to making games, so I'm not going to act like I do, but this is what I encountered that kinda killed the experience, and here are a few things I would change (for me at least) :

1. It's too slow. The speed in a hack'n slash or beat 'em up can either make or break the game.

2. The A.I. seemed to corner me and wail on me at times (I mean I understand that's what they're suppose to do, but around that time that's when the dodge mechanic showed me how finicky it was, so please turn down the A.I. or fix the dodge mechanic).

3. Combat was very boring/generic and the string of combos you can preform aren't the most stylish, eye-catching, nor satisfying to preform (in the future try letting people alternate between multiple weapons to fit their play styles, or for basic attacks let the character use his fist and legs, and for a heavy but slower attacks you can use the sword).

4. Change the arrow-key setup to the w, a, s, and d keys.

5. Make double-tapping on the directional keys a dash instead of dodging and give the dodge mechanic it's own button.

6. If you make a sequel or try to re-make this game, please fix god mode. I kind of got vibes you were inspired by hack'n slash games around the lines of the devil may cry series, correct? Just remember that in the D.M.C. games when you went into Devil Trigger the game just gave you a temporary stat boost, and invincibility as you recover any lost HP, but your character still controlled (for the most part) the same. When it went into god mode (for me anyways) I just felt like I just had to walk over by a group of baddies and mindlessly press the attack button until it wore off.

7. Fix the objects you can interact with so they are easier to pick-up/use.

8. Give enemies death animations and make them fly back a bit after the end of a combo, so it feels like your finishing blows have some weight to them.

9. This isn't a big one but try including an extra-life and high-score system, so it encourages people to play a little better each time, so they can try to beat records they set in past play throughs.

10. If possible, see if you can include mid-air combat.

Don't give up on making games if that's what you enjoy doing. Don't view this as mistake but more so as a learning experience. Just keep trying till you get it right. Anyways, hope to see more from you in the future.
