Reviews for "Saccharine: a sim date"

I absolutely love this game-- it's different yet interesting! can i ask why this may be your last sim date???

I seriously love how you can practically kill yourself (or rather, Branwen) when you do too much XD

You know usually games would say that you simply do not have enough HP, but this game just kills you (or Branwen) [At least she doesn't die of talking to the prince soo much XD]

Very few games do this now, but I love how you can stack HP by sleeping many days in a row.
(Also that is the nicest maid of a prince ever. Usually VN's with princely love interests almost always have evil maids come to kill the protagonist XD)

Also love how memorable the 'cheat codes' are! As well as the story... Simply. Amazing.

Amiralo responds:

Well...Branwen Is hauling Isador all over the land before the events of this story took place. That plus overworking....yeah, she's going to keel over (glad you appreciated it)
Well, all the main characters in the game are kind of messed up, so it's nice to have a little change of pace with the side characters. XD

Glad you liked the story!

I played this game 9 years ago on my old Newgrounds account and remembered it out of the blue today. I forgot the storyline, but remembered the name and how it made me feel, so I had to come back and play it again to see if it was as good as I remember. Wow. I have played so many different games over the years, the fact I remembered one from almost 10 years ago is insane. This has one of the best and saddest stories of anything I've played. Nothing went how I was expecting it to go. The music is great, the art style suits the story/vibe really well. I feel like I should've paid money for this. I played this game at 18 and scored it a 5/5; upon replaying it at 27 (where does the time go?!) I still give it a 5/5. Just wow.

Hey Amiralo, I created this account only to give you this review and it's kinda the first review I've ever made about a game . So I'm pretty excited c: First of all I wanted to thank you very much for taking the time to make those games! I'm addicted to otome games, visual novels and sim dates and it feels like I already played every one that's for free, heh. In my desperation I played really bad sim dates, like -why am I making myself suffer? But playing your first sim dates was so hilarious, awesome, just wonderful! Tears run down my cheeks at the ends of your storys..

Although having a weird memory, I can still remember those endings.. The probably best ending was the one where that poor girl came back to the real world and found out about her old childhood friend and went day by day to the hospital to take care of him. She stayed faithful and then this rich piano-playing kid woke up after his long coma... So... splendid.. (didn't find a better word, because we don't need positive words in our English lessons '-'... just kiding xd And then there was this ending where you get back to your real world, back from this crazy king who gave his life for you. When you meet this little boy in the park everything makes so freaking much sense that you're just mind-blown and suddenly this crazy, mean king appears to be a boy who was thrown into a new life and got overhelmed by a new world. Some others mentioned you're endings being very sad, but actually I adored your endings, especially because you could choose between two endings.. But this time the endings were truly sad and I was almost disappointed that your heart-warming endings ended always with Branwen being not in a happy relationship - I live for happy endings!

Well, I'm really no pro in this stuff, still I think I have a description for the way your games changed -they matured. The first two games were dreamy, if you get to know the person better you realise that he has his reasons for his behaivor and that he's not bad at all, in fact, he would never harm you. This time some persons just don't become good, you even realise that they are worse than you thought (the prince), you had to face the truth and never got a happy-happy ending..

Now more to your game, without any comparisons:
The scenery was well-drawn and I also liked the design of the menu where all the options are. The look of the characters is very important to me and the protagonist looked a little bit strange in the text-box.
Having the possibility to give Em an advice about her love life is nice and refreshing and it's funny how she seems to be better off without that boy.
Buying the receipes and buying cakes was a little challenging at first, but it was fun too!

Sorry if something didn't make sense or if I used bad English!
All in all it was again a great game and I would be really pleased to play a new masterpiece of yours.. I have two favourite game-maker, one of them is definetly you!

Sincerely, Susan. :)

This took me by surprise. Loved the art in the game as well as the story. VERY amazing, couldn't stop playing till I got all the endings (worth it) Will also go play some of your other games.
