Reviews for "Rogue Legend"

As far as I can tell Hardcore mode is the same, except 1 death = you've to restart from the beginning.

I got a Titanium sword and Iron Shield thinking I'd be kicking butt against the guys that are beyond the snakes' and slimes' areas, they still whooped me. Often when I'd attack any enemy my character would turn red and not attack when they got near to the enemy, letting the enemy hit me. Not sure why that happened, maybe it's an intended feature.

I ended up stopping after losing my Titanium sword randomly upon death in that area. Yeah it wouldn't be too hard to go fetch it, but I've grown tired of the game now.

I'm not sure what the best money maker would be, I'd guess crops but I didn't bother with them (the whole process didn't appeal to me after a couple small harvests), opting for foraging. Seemed like enemies got pretty tough in areas where I was looking for some of the more valuable ore, and the ore seemed somewhat scarce. Was a bit of a grind since I didn't want to spend the ore on upgrading the hammer, opting for my weapon first.

Maybe the more valuable seeds/crops would have a big payoff. You also have to use season specific seeds. Pretty good game, though I found it a little slow for me. When I was a lot younger Harvest Moon appealed to me, but I think I've grown more impatient since then.

Here's my review I hope it helps:

PROS:
-Tutorial is fast and easy
-Plenty of items to collect and craft
-Having stores is an excellent idea
-Farming (plants and animals), mining, fighting = amazingly addicting game play
-Increasing difficulty the farther down you explore

CONS: (and improvements)
-Difficult finding stone and had to travel pretty far
-Nothing to show what was already crafted. A list or something showing materials I need to craft something again would be nice. It's hard to memorize how much of a material I need to craft the same item again.
-The rain seems to come quite frequently. I'm not sure if that is situational to the current season however.
-The amount of stone available hinders crafting roof and wall pieces I feel.
-Controls seem a bit off. I find myself mis-clicking and sometimes walking in a direction I didn't choose.
-Growing seeds. It took a while just to get them to sprout. I watered them when they needed it. Next day "summer" came and literally killed them all. Not sure why it's so hard to grow plants so I sold all the seeds I gathered instead.

All in all wonderful game. This is certainly a new favorite and you did an amazing job even if it was 2 months worth. I feel as if this took a year or longer to make while I played it. I'd love to see this end up green lighted and possible on steam as a better game (unity perhaps?). Great job man!

Shayl responds:

Thank you! Some players have put together a wiki if you REALLY want to look up recipes without experimenting. Also, you can craft cliff blocks into stone

Expanding the house was a bit of a pain, though I guess a task like that should be. I should be able to move the chest with stuff inside it. I need to move it to expand my house but I have to pull everything out of the chest first. Losing all my crops when summer suddenly arrived was a touch annoying, too. I waited a few days to get into farming and right before my patch of strawberries were ready, they all died the first day of summer. Honestly, my biggest annoyance is the lag. I don't know if it's because my internet sucks but it freezes every few seconds. I'm really enjoying this game, despite some annoyances, and I hope you can put out a good sequel like you plan. $5k is a lot, though.

Shayl responds:

I've uploaded a new version that should hopefully make it a bit less laggy while moving long distances, hope that helps. $5000 will just barely cover my rent and food costs for 5 months, it's really the smallest amount I can manage and still work on it full time.

Really addicting as a lot of people here say. I think some things should be easier like throwing out items. It has some buggs too but without that it's perfect

all about basic of the game
-10 stone is all you need to watering crops
-hammer the water will allow you to take the water
-hammer anything to put it on your iventory including wall and stuff
-you need to enlarge your house early game
-putting water floor in the house will give unlimited water, and fish of course
-fishing rods is the basic need when it is rain, fishing in your house seems legit
(if you still doesn't have umbrella)
-recipe ? just open the craft while carrying random stuff
-some stuff only can be placed indoor (e.g Anvil)
-sleep at morning is proven to be dangerous, resulting wake up at night and cause more stress
-nonstop sleep is proven more dangerous, since the farm can be attacked by the wild
and you need to manage your hunger
