Reviews for "Arise"

It's similar to Meat Boy, going up.
And only up.
With birds.

Pretty addictive. There's something about these endless (or seemingly endless) running/jumping games that simply makes it so that we have to play them, over and over again.

I really like the classic-styled pixelated graphics, and the chiptune music selection is nothing short from amazing. I love games with this kind of retro presentation.

The game is one of those endless vertical jumping games, where you have to wall jump quickly in a randomly-generated obstacle course, in order to evade different kinds of spiky and flaming traps, all while running from the incoming floor of lava beneath. It's ridiculously fun, and, like I said before, very addictive. Maybe the addiction factor has to do with how simple and fast-paced the game is, so there's hardly any complex reasoning involved, but always a lot of adrenaline and speed.

It's also the kind of game that angers you just enough that you still want to try again, adding to the overall addiction factor. Since the game doesn't lose much momentum upon death (other than the fact you'll have to start climbing all over again, of course), it's very easy to just start over and continue getting a kick out of it.

As you unlock different medals for different achievements, you also unlock different birds. I didn't notice much difference among the different birds that wasn't strictly visual, but maybe I didn't pay enough attention to things or something.

I've learned by the reviews that there's actually a way to escape the volcano? I'll keep trying, then.

So addicting! The graphics are nice, and the music is very cool and fitting too!

The only problem I had is that rock falling lags my game pretty hard, but it must be because my computer is old.

I think I found a glitch: In a random death, I respawned and played with the Dead Bird (yes, the white one, and it left blood trails in the walls) I don't know if that's intentional but it's cool.

I feel that the difficulty was a bit rare. At the begginig it's pretty hard, but as you make to the top, the Fireball Launchers appear more often and they are easier to evade. But if they are combined with the spikes they add a touch of difficulty and they force the player to think or wait before jumpimg, making the game more interesting.

Good job!

This is an addicting game, I felt my self getting sucked into it. This could be a top selling app game for phones. I like song 2 the best, It gets you more pumped to try again. The white bird is my fav, He bleeds on the walls when you die to many time lol.

Every time I try to land on a platform I die! Well, that was dumb.

Mantis1 responds:

Perhaps because they aren't platforms?
