Reviews for "The Stitcher"

Alrighty, first off, the speech speed is extremely slow, I would ask that you install a text speed button selection, or maybe text boxes in which you click to further the text.

I would also ask that you install a mute button, though I think you added a reasonable level for the audio, so for that I thank you.

I suggest removing or making the buildings smaller, as the obstruct you view, especially when you go to look for the special hemp. I would also suggest that the sliding ground be quicker, and sound a little more consistent, as the loop is really painful to the ears.

My major gripe with this game, is the ending. Or what seems like the ending, I really dislike that it ends with a picture of hemp, as it doesn't feel rewarding to do that tedious task to end with a hemp let alone not seeing how it helps the villagers.

I would much prefer an ending where you see the villagers cross the earth that you stitched, be it that they're escaping an action by mother earth, or something of the sorts, as then you feel like you were truly helpful and it would at least justify your actions.

Overall, nice graphic style, somewhat ok gameplay, the story is really appreciated (cause so many games don't have good stories), music is at good volume but the text speed and sound effects are somewhat annoying.

Christopf responds:

Uh thanks for all that input! With the textspeed you may be right. An forward function like in the intro should be useful to different reading skills.
For the sound there is actually a mute function i just forgot to name it, i will update the description after this.
That with the rocks is part of the game meant to make it at least a little difficult since my gameplay idea was to this point not enough to make it an interesting puzzler.
And with the ending you are totally right too. But there wasnt more time for me to put in this game. But if i had more i would put it to this.

Thanks for all your kind words (:

Very nice! I really enjoyed the concept, art and the game play + Stitching canyons: No doubt that's an original idea! :)

Everything worked fine for me. If any complaint it would be the speed: the time it takes for the canyons to approach & the slow fading in & out of the text with the need to press 'Enter' each time. (btw, why not space? imo, the less keys the better.)

Anyway, you got me curious about what will happen next, so I really hope you're planing on making it a full game. GJ! Keep it up! :D

PS: I hope there'll be a 'skip intro/speech' & 'replay' button. :p

Christopf responds:

Ha! Thank you very much! Your words made me happy and kind of interested in a sequel or bigger game. But to now i'm not sure enough if this game is that interesting (since i'm working on another game more interesting imo) and worth to spend more time into it.

The replay button is a good idea also! Thus i have to work on better possibilities to interact with text and cinematics next game.

Well i would love to be able to ACTUALLY play the game.

Sad too i was look forward to what ever this was, but alas when pressing the one button required to get passed the fargin tutorial, it makes the game explode well... all i can say is you might want to take this down to fix it.

As a P.S.
I find it kind of interesting that you cant replicate this glitch yet three of the 6 people who have reviewed this game say that if you jump at the tutorial the game breaks irreparably.
Something, again, you MUST do if you wish to progress.

Looking forward to the REAL game soon :)

Christopf responds:

TL;DR its fixed. should working now

I thought first it might be a flashplayer version problem but as it turned out i removed a variable that was responsible for the direction when Karim was added to the world (in my attempt to remove the flickering between worlds). Thus in the beginning there was no direction if you didnt press any other key (like movement) and the jumpanimation couldnt be triggered. so it came to an endless screenshake. thanks for pushing this again

pretty cool so far i love hemp being yarn. I wish that whenever you jumped on a platform that it wasnt so dang slow to get to the other side. but overall i enjoyed it

Christopf responds:

thank you! i changed the plattform speed a little

I liked the concept a lot, and I think the story to it is a good smooth one, but the gameplay could use a coloring to the spool, like when you have no wires, its just the spool, but whatever color wireing you have, it will slowly rise throught 5 stages to full. but overall, it was enjoyable.

Christopf responds:

thank you, the idea with the spool were in my mind too. but it actually was a gameidea for ludumdare30 and i didnt finish in time so i tried to rush to a enjoyable version. if i would invest more time into it i think there would be puzzling with different kind of yarns and way more animation. but this is over for me to now because i already worked on another game when starting this.
