Reviews for "A Dance of Fire and Ice"

Love it! Love everything about it! Great game here, man. Brings me back to the rhythm dungeon mini-game in Rhythm Heaven. I always felt like that needed a revamp. The part that really surprises me, is how great this game is even though it's only a backbone. Looking towards the future I see a lot of great things from this game (If you continue to update it) and you in general.

If you plan to update it, I'd recommend tweaking the timing a little bit. I feel as if I'm pretty good at rhythm games and I can't help but think that sometimes when I fail, I really should've hit the beat. Then again wind up after 1.7x is pretty much becomes impossible haha.

A few ideas I'm just putting out there:
Checkpoints
Level editor/Song import and play
Having to press certain keys on certain beats (maybe a back and forth to simulate a kick-snare sequence?)

One more thing I've thought of is the way you can spam presses/clicks then wait a few beats then do it again. I'm guessing it only checks for spamming if you do it continuously. Perhaps instead of this mechanic you could have a certain number of misclicks per level?

Of course I'm sure there's even more you can think of! Anyways, overall it's a fantastic game and I can't wait to see what you do next! Cheers!

Thank you. And getting to 1.7x is insane just saying. The new update I just rolled out now has fixed the timing so the offset no longer drifts. Great suggestions too, level editor is something i am (slowly) slowly exploring, and i think I'm beginning to have the pieces - realtime on-beat sound generation, saving and loading to php etc - to be able to put it together!

now i'd be lying if i said it didn't take me several tries to get through the first world. this game is incredibly hard, but also incredibly addictive. i started playing this game less than half an hour ago and it's already one of my favorites on this site. it's one of those 'easy to learn, hard to master' kinds of things. however, i would add a checkpoint feature of some kind if that was possible, but it would most likely interrupt the flow of the song, so probably just a personal preference.
overall, fun game, and anyone who likes rhythm games will definitely love it. good job!

i love this game so much i want it on the go
if you have enough time while you aren't programming rhythm doctor, could you try to release it on iOS? i would love it. I'm currently trying to beat 3-x 1.3. this game is so awesome
it has wonderful music and gameplay is cool

fizzd responds:

thanks haha glad you like it. Yeah I'm currently in the search for a programmer to help me finish this game while im busy with RDoc, aiming the very latest by the end of the year, its almost ready with 3 new worlds, but its just stuff like menus and optimisation all that that i just have no time for, its really frustrating haha.

This made me want to punt a small child
